He's forgetting (or ignoring) how good those players were, and how well that team gelled and played together.

Jordan in his prime would be guarded effectively by no one on the redeem team. Ewing and Robinson were both better than Dwight. Barkley was amazing at this point in his career. Hell, the worst platers on the team were probably Drexler or Bird. They won every game by an average of more than 40 points.

I would pick the Dream Team 19 out of 20 games.

I do agree, expect with the competition internationally was very weak, Kukoc was the only notable prospect.

I don't think it would be a blowout, but i don't see many flaws in the dream team, the Redeem team or today's NBA stars, there are some flaws

Your friend lost the argument when he had to mix-match players from 2008 and 2012. Imagine if you combined dream team 1 and 2...

The 2008 team would win easily. The only players in their absolute apex prime at the time were Jordan and Barkley. Magic and Bird had retired already so they can't really be called on to guard guys like Lebron and Chris Paul. David Robinson's athletic advantage goes away against Dwight. So basically, we're hoping that Jordan is so much better than Kobe and Berkeley than Bosh, that we don't take advantage of the retired guys. Unless you are saying, Pippen and Stockton are on the court in their place. Lebron vs Scottie world probably be a tie, but Paul cab still have his way with Stockton.

Wade, Deron, Melo off the bench would also cause issues that Drexler, Mullin, and Malone aren't going to fix. It would be a great game, but some of you are just looking at names and not realizing where these guys were at the time.

This is a comparison chart comparing the 1992 team to the 2008 team.

1992: John Stockton, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, David Robinson, Charles Barkley, Christian Laetner, Chris Mullin, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone

2008: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Jason Kidd, Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, Michael Redd, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Dwight Howard, Tayahaun Prince

Now that both rosters are set, here is how I think they would pair up.

John Stockton - Chris Paul
Magic Johnson - Deron Williams
Christian Laetner - Michael Redd
Michael Jordan - Kobe Bryant
Clyde Drexler - Dwayne Wade
Scottie Pippen - Tayshaun Prince
Larry Bird - LeBron James
Chris Mullen - Carmelo Anthony
David Robinson - Dwight Howard
Karl Malone - Chris Bosh
Charles Barkley - Carlos Boozer
Patrick Ewing - Jason Kidd (I only paired these two up because of the Dream Team having more Bigs and Redeem Team having more guards)

I think the matchup is a little closer than my original post but I still think the Dream Team wins it. I will admit I was wrong in the amount of the HoF people on the Redeem Team. Easily 7-8 not 3-4 like I first thought.

Now, if we compare a mixture or Dream Team 1 & 2 and then a mixture of Redeem Team 1 & 2 then I think the Dream Team mixture has it hands down all the way.
My team doesn't strike fear... It strikes pity...

I highlighted the winners of the matchups. If no one was highlighted, I called it a wash. Dream team wins 6 to 2 by my count.

People must be sleeping on him because he was essentially role player by the time he played us in the finals. Portland Drexler was SICK.

I honestly believe it would be a good game. Most people don't give this ERA enough credit IMO. I don't think the Redeem team would win, but I would say it'd be a very good game. People have to remember that the international level of play wasn't even close to what it is now. especially teams like Spain and Argentina.

The thing is though, you aren't going to have that big of a rotation.. Some of those players on the Redeem team didn't even sniff the floor unless it was a 30 point game. You would probably get a 9 man rotation.
