There was a lot of money involved in this China excursion and any delays in making it happen could have been a set back for Adidas, Dwight and the NBA. They had to make this trade happen in the time alloted.

Same plans, different team.
The product is Dwight Howard... he was going to go to China no matter what team got him. If he was traded to Houston, he'd be in China right now shaking Yao Ming's hand on TV while wearing a Rockets jersey and the same shoes but with red accents. If Henny came out and said we're keeping him until the trade deadline, he'd be in China right now rocking blue shoes and a Magic jersey. Don't act like Adidas doesn't have the resources to quickly change some colors on a shoe, banners, etc...

And, Dwight was supposed to be too injured to play Karate and Ping Pong, much less get on a plane for a 10 hour flight.

It has taken over a year for Dwight to make this happen.

Just set down with @kaj33. Man God is so good. Was in tears. What a blessing. This is like a dream come true. Go Lakers.

Woah!!! Dwight is already working out hard 2 weeks after being too injured to meet with children.

Although it has been reported Dwight Howard has not been medically cleared for weight training, he was spotted last week in LA doing some light lifting and then today in China doing some sort of stretching exercise:

Dwight looks damn healthy to me. Ready to rock that Lakers Jersey on opening night. I can see David Stern smiling now that the league just made some serious bank from Adidas on this promotional tour. I wonder if Devos gets a cut from that loot.

Badmofopimp. I do not discredit anyone who is "too sick to meet with children" but then cleared for "full workouts" 2 weeks later. That's a long time to recover health and start to feel better. I think you are being a tad unfair and letting your emotions get the better of you.

I'm glad he feels better, but I am not glad he ended up missing his other responsibilities. Again, two weeks is a LONG time to make a good recovery. The only thing that will piss me off is if he starts shooting 78% from the free throw line this season.

After 3 months of rehabilitation, (2) weeks does not make a difference. Especially regarding a surgery where many people only need a week or two to recuperate, much less than (3-4) months. Then, miraculously be available for training, long flights and karate or ping pong. In addition, Adidas is creating Dwights press statements. What is up with that. They are now talking for Dwight. There is mad money involved here.

As for me being unfair, well Dwight has been more than unfair to his fans. He has no integrity or loyalty. He has been corrupted. I am not glad he feels better, because I doubt he was injured in the first place.

Dude I was in the doctors office one of the days he "thought he hurt his back" and was getting it checked out. While I agree he is no saint and you for all the blind faith you put in him kinda deserve what you got. ;)

I still blame the Magic themselves more then Dwight. To me "Superstars" who can claim to be top 5 in the league don't come by often. We have had 3, all of them left under bad circumstances. Two to the same team. I am sure Howard is about to make a ton of money off his next shoe deal. Depending on how much it is, I may change my opinion and side more with you. But for now, lay off.

I disagree on the recovery time. While you are right to say 2 weeks in the span of 3-4 months isn't much of anything. To claim he wasn't injured is a tad premature, and a little immature at that. Those two weeks though could be the difference between allowing him to take a plane flight, or heavy contact drills.

Either way, he is rich, living in LA and chasing championships.

For Potterman. Great post. We will see. But, he looks like he is already healthy enough to start the season. I doubt that would have happened if he wasn't traded.

For Popeye: People are still mad at AIG. When I witness corruption in sports, I just get disgusted. I won't let the NBA (Stern) and Adidas fool me out of any more money. They just realized that having Dwight in LA will create better marketing and revenue opportunities. Because, that is what Dwight and his people wanted so badly they facilitated it. Greed is a dangerous thing.

On that I agree. I never believed he would stay to begin with. I just think its a stretch to say he faked an injury. I do think he would fake a recovery timeline as well had he been kept with the Magic. The reasons though are purely his own and i'm confident they include many facets of the problems of a person who is a multi-multi-millionaire trying to become a billionaire.

Meanwhile all five baby-mamma's know they are going to get paid off of this as well.

Being I have met people who have had everything done for them for many years, people do become clueless on the reality of the results of those actions. Hence, Dwight probably doesn't even have to think as he pays people to do his thinking for him. Then, they get what I call the "God Complex" since everywhere you go, everyone and I say everyone treats you like a god. Thus, this is why when it is all over you see so many disfunctional celebrities as they get older and can no longer afford to have their lives taken care of for them and they are no longer idolized in public. It doesn't last forever. Well, unless you really are Kareem Abdul Jabar who seems to have a keen head on him.

Early Monday morning, residents in some areas of L.A. experienced a mild earthquake that registered 3.3 on the see you at the party Richter scale.

“I was in the toilet … and It shook me off the toilet,” Dwight told us.

For the record, 3.2 is WEAK SAUCE … the Northridge quake that hit back in 1994 was a 6.7 and lasted almost 20 seconds. The Sylmar quake in ’71 was a 6.6.

But a fall from a toilet could be pretty serious for a guy who recently had back surgery that kept him from flying to Orlando for his kids camp and may cause him to miss the start of the NBA season, so he should probably see a doctor to make sure it’s okay for him to fly to China again.

Dwight has waited for this moment for 8 years. He didn't want to go out like Shaq, he had to outdo Shaq and cripple franchise worse!

Dwight healed up faster in the last two weeks than he has in the past 3 months!

Livin it up in TV land . . . Dwight Howard!

VMA Host, Kevin Hart, introduced LA Lakers new starting center Dwight Howard to the Staples Center. During the bit, Howard handed short Kevin a large jersey, enraging the host and prompting him to say: “let’s see how funny it is when Kobe don’t pass you the ball” as he walked off the stage:
