Calling it now: Magic draft Marcus Smart somewhere between #5-8 and start grooming him as our (tall) point guard of the future. We will pick Smart over more highly touted prospects including Alex Len, Archie Goodwin, and Otto Porter, with the express intention of converting him to a full time 1.

I could really dig Smart. Looks like he's a playa and PG is our biggest need.

I could get with that prediction.

I saw Anthony Bennett's Findlay Prep play last year against Kasey Hill's Montverde Academy. I wasn't that impressed with Bennett. He came off the bench as a 6th man and rebounded well. But, most of his points came off garbage plays. Plus he's a lot shorter than I thought he was. He's 6'7" and I'm not to keen on undersized PF's in the NBA. He'll be able to get away with it in college ball and look good, but I'm not sure it'll translate when he's playing bigger guys.

He's definitely a fun player to watch. Pretty athletic, has a great motor, can jump out of the gym, and is an underrated passer. I think he can be a good player in the NBA if he worked on his perimeter skills (dribbling, shooting). He'd pose a matchup problem for a lot of teams. I'd think of him as Al Harrington with freak athleticism.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Anthony Bennett has 12 points and 5 rebounds in the first half against Oregon although they are down 40-38. AB is developing a nice outside game but I just love the fact that he is a bully on the court and every chance he gets he makes the other team pay.

+1 agreed and it also sounds like a player that hennigan would avoid luckily he wants smart hard workers with good attitudes

AB finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, pretty good night although they lost to Oregon.

Can't lie i think he could be a good fit here because while i like Afflac and Redick i'm not 100% sure they are here to stay. We just might deal them if the price is right unfortunately but Goodwin could be a nice prospect for replacing one if not both of those guys. Athletic and can create his own shot and he's good spotting up from college 3 also for a SG he has nice vision, I want to watch him more to see what he can do on the defensive end but from what i hear he has a pretty nice wingspan for his height and with his athleticism he has the tools to be good defensively.

Goodwin is intriguing seems like a wing that can create his own shot and create for others

Goodwins first step is very exposive and he can go left or right, Noel actually impressed me finally but he leaves his feet to easily on defense and Poythress is crazy athletic he reminds me of Derrick Favors...

My pipe dream would be somehow Henny gets two lottery picks in this draft. We pick Marcus Smart(PG) and Archie Goodwin(SG) we would basically have a team of prospects right there.

PG: Marcus Smart
SG: Archie Goodwin
SF: Moe Harkless
PF: Andrew Nicholson
C: Nikola Vucevic

Nice young core of guys right there who can grow and mature together kinda like how OKC did it with Harden/Westbrook/Durant. I would love it if things turned out that way

Goodwin may end up being the BPA for us, but I loathe his out of control play. He's reckless, has no breaks. Not sure I'm ready to go thru those growing pains. I hope Cal teaches him how to play basketball.

What position would Shabazz play in the NBA?

I also like Deshaun Thomas for an early second round pick.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

I think shabazz, at current height, will play sg for most teams but if a team needs him to i think he has the strength to play some 3 but he will be best at the 2
