Kansas St has had a great year, but they proved that their status was a bit higher than their talent level.

Give 'em credit but I'd expect to see them fall to at least #6, maybe a couple of spots farther down too.

The Baylor win didn't surprise me, but the Oregon loss was shocking.

And yeah, it's tough to stay on top.

I think Notre Dame goes down next week too.....provided Barkley recovers

how is this for a crazy scenario that the nation would hate.

USC beats ND.

UGA beats Bama.

UGA plays UF again for the national title. 2 teams from the SEC, 1 team not even playing for their division and conference championship.

The nation and pundits would go nuts.

With the move by Maryland and Rutger's expected announcement today, it looks like all of this conference crap is heading towards a steep cliff....with the left-outs being forced to jump off.

The move by Maryland is horrible for everyone except their bank account.

It helps the Big 10. Gets them more East Coast exposure, gets them into the DC tv markets. It is great for Rutgers, they were going nowhere in the Big East and would have been left sitting out in a different conference re-organization. No one was going to come calling for a NJ school

I think we are headed to four 16 team conferences. SEC - Big 10 (16?) - Pac 16(?) - ACC, possibly an expanded Big 12 to catch any of the bigger name schools left out of the 4 above,

I was referring to the UM folks.....but yeah, Rutgers is a clear winner.

The Big 10 gets exposure into huge markets, but those markets really don't hold that much water for college football.

Maryland football is an afterthought in that market geographically speaking unless they are winning (which hasn't happened consistently since Bobby Ross left)....for the fan base, this move is regrettable

Rutgers has had recent success too, but the NY market is about baseball and NFL in the fall. I don't see that much impact in ratings when Rutgers plays at Northwestern. Still, the move for Rutgers is obviously a no-brainer

16 team conferences are inevitable. It won't happen immediately. I know a lot of rumors are flying around about B10 adding UVa and BC next, for instance, but I don't see it. That's a lot of diluting really quickly.

I think the B10 stays pat at 14 for the moment, the ACC grabs UConn or Louisville to get back to 14, and we call it a day for awhile again. To me, B12 holds the cards. Are they uncomfortable at 10 for much longer?

Nope, they won't stay there long.

Who and when they go after remains to be seen, but their future invitations could help or cripple USF/UCF's aspirations to hang with decent company in the future....

OT/ but the Tar Heels are going to be facing a wave of scrutiny (and potentially damaging penalties) over the academic charges coming out.

Miami's former players accused by Nevin Shapiro were all issued letters requesting interviews about their involvement. Players that do not issue a response/interview would be considered as an admission to the claims.

Finally, Auburn is under the NCAA recruiting probe again....surprise, surprise....of course it's been a dirty program for longer than my lifetime.

With Chizik in command, they've already kind of self-imposed a bowl ban...LOL....so a better penalty to the school if the probe uncovers misdeeds... might be to mandate that Chizik get an extension and remain at the school.
