I don't know if anyone posted this yet but Orlandomagic.com is running a web series called Rise of the Rookie. It is really good. Here is the first episode:

Yeah, I'm a big fan of this continuing throughout the season. The guys getting Jameer a stool at the SoDo Target was hilarious.

It'll be a sad day when O'Quinn is the throw-in on some midseason trade or DQJ is waived to make room for a 2-for-1 swap.

I like our guys, but this is a team in transition and we have to recognize it as such. The "get to know you" pieces are great, this one not excluded, but I'm a little weary of taking anyone on the team for granted after this summer. I feel, for better or worse, like I have to stay a bit detached. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Interesting watch. But LOL @ Nicholson struggling with the 70lbs dumbbells -- for some reason, I thought he's stronger than that. Maybe because it's toward the end of his workout?

pressing a pair of 70 lbs dumbbells for moderate reps is very good for a really tall guy who is not on steroids. 140lbs should equal to 200+ with the bar, which is a decent number for a basketball player.

Some people just like to assume that professional athletes would be a lot better than us physically. When you see Ricky Davis jump over Steve Nash, it's exciting because I know there is no way I could pull that off. But when I see a guy pushing up two 70lb dumbbells, I think "wait, am I really that much stronger than him? Why is he in the NBA?" Just part of wanting to root for the mythology. It's why guys don't like the WNBA. We all think we are just as athletic as the stars.

still nice though, really like it, I hope these guys bond and gel so we can keep them in the future.

at the end they mentioned that the next episode would feature doron lamb, so that will be interesting.

What I loved about this second video was the clear reflection that the rookie realize that the live a dream life, and thus, they must work very, very hard to maintain that dream.

GM Hennigan not only found some young kids; he found hungry kids. This is awesome. The emotional stability of Orlando's 19-22 yo puppies is phenomenal. Orlando might have the most coach-able and trainable collection of assets int he NBA today.

^This. Mental makeup is IMO the most important ingredient to successfully developing a star and a lot of busts were complete opposites.

No matter what people talk about him today in hindsight, could any of you imagine what Darko would have been if he had Steve Nash approach?
