So you were the one who asked Matt Guokas that odd All-Star question a few games ago.

Look. He's putting up 15.8 ppg, 5.5 apg on 48.9 FG% in under 33 minutes of work. That's fantastic for him, but not anywhere near the All-Star discussion. He needs to get the fans on his side to vote a ton for there to be a chance. That won't happen because outside of Orlando, the majority of the country still hates Redick from his Duke days. Once Harkless or Hedo start at SF, Redick can go back to the bench and focus on being a 6th Man candidate again.

16/5.5 is "elite numbers"...? add to the fact that we're not a good team, JJ got absolutely no chance.

I think if he maintains that he may have a very outside shot at 6th man of the year but not an allstar, if he can get his scoring to 20 per and 5-6 assists per he will have a real shot from the coaches but that seems unlikely to happen

After the fans vote the starters, coaches pick 2 backcourt players and 2 more players regardless of position. I think Redick needs to score a few more points a game to be considered and that may not happen once we get all our guys back and the younger players start contributing more. All the guards are pooled together, so we're looking at guys like Wade, Irving, Holiday, Walker, DWill, Lowry, Jennings, Rondo in the east. The only way I see him getting voted in by the coaches as a sub with those numbers is if we win games, like stay around .500. You look at a guy like Felton... his numbers are good, but not great, however, he could have an outside chance because he's had such a huge hand in the Knicks winning this year (that would have to continue though).

There's 0% chance JJ will be an All-Star and I'm a complete fan of his.

Nah, but he's doing a hell of a job boosting his trade value.

All star game is a stretch, but you can argue hes in the top 2-3 shooting guards from the east right now

Nah, no way would he ever be an All-star. But I'm thankful to have him and I hope we resign him to an affordable deal. If he wants a deal like Jameer, then I'm fine with him leaving. Really would prefer to keep him though.

Jonathan Clay is around the 15th best PER SG. This rates him at around the 8th best Eastern SG. Which is gosh-darn good! But not all-star good.

Slim chance... he didn't even get selected when we had the allstar game in Orlando... he was mildly campaigning for it on Twitter too.

you can knock off at least 4 of those players in the East by default, Morrow, Brooks, etc...add in everything (assist, pts, reb, fg%, ft%, consistency, etc) it still puts JJ easily in the top 3

He might never win the popularity contest, but given that coaches are scouting against him more now that Howard isn't in the cards, He might eventually get some love as part of the coach picked "C team".

One of the best off the ball players in the NBA and is becoming more of a combo guard on offense now. Coaches have the hots for players that are in the right spots and do all the technical stuff well, so while his chances aren't great, I wouldn't say its impossible for him to win a spot.

he's having a great year, but he may not even be on the magic at the all star break

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Blasphemy! JJ will retire in Orlando and have his jersey sent to the rafters.

Only SG in the league averaging 5ast, let alone 15pts and 5ast

Too bad point and shooting guards are grouped together when picking. The East has way more allstar PGs than SGs. This thread actually made me realize how valuable JJ is going to be... the SG position is not what it used to be. Do you think he can keep up 5 assists now that Jameer is back... what about when Turk returns?
