McRoberts 14 minutes, Harkless 10

Care to explain JV why you continue to put McRoberts at the 3, and playing him over a rookie you're supposed to develop? Care to explain why when your team is leading going into the 4th quarter, you put McRoberts at the 3, and quickly see your lead evaporate?

Do you, JV, care to explain how Andrew Nicholson is playing under 20 minutes a night, when all he does is score at over a .5 point per minute ratio when your team struggles to score?

I've been wondering a lot about how in the world McRoberts keeps playing at the 3. He's a decent passer for a big man, but he's definitely a big man. Not a very good one either.

I don't agree with it, but it's probably so he can be traded this season...

Could be he needs to play McRoberts some for a future trade so he still has some value, or more than likely he just wants to slowly bring along Harkless and Nicholson so they will be successful, something he has said before. I know it's frustrating though to not see the rookies out there a lot, especially when McRoberts isn't playing very well or when he plays SF. However, it's still early in the year, I would think that eventually their playing time will increase, but for now he would rather play his vets more minutes and slowly bring the rooks along. The most frustrating thing for me though is seeing Andrew play so well, like he did today, but have him get taken out.

JV has consistently said he will play the rookies in small minutes and gradually develop them into the rotation and give them more minutes. Be patient folks.

I don't mind waiting for it to unfold over the course of the season, but if either of our rookies are impacting the game in a positive way I think they should earn more minutes, at least for that particular game. Like when Harkless had 10pts, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks in 19 minutes against the Knicks... Nicholson also had 11pts in just 9 minutes that game.

Harkless was awful today. Our only other healthy SF is also a rookie. That is why Josh gets time at SF. Also, he was matched up with Kleiza, so it's not like he was guarding LeBron out there. Give it time. We are 9 games into the season. Jaqcue wants the rookies to be successful. The more comfortable they become with the NBA game, the more they will play.

JV is just bringing the rooks on slowly. I don't see a problem. My biggest issue right now is watching Baby take the bulk of the shots and him putting the ball on the floor.

Forgot to mention that if SVG were still the coach, the rookies would have probably only seen garbage time minutes up to this point.

Not even. Rookies would be in suits, behind the bench. SVG would've still found a way to play Turk, lol.

Playing him at the 3 won't enhance his value when he sucks there

Why do people forget? SVG helped develop JJ. He played Courtney Lee from the get go. He developed Gortat. He played Ryan Anderson. SVG did play young players.

gortat rarely played his first year (6 games, 6min) his 2nd season (age 24-25) he played 12min a game, followed by 13min the next year

Ryans rookie year with the nets he averaged 20min, his first season with Orlando he averaged 14.5min with DNPCD

JJ actually averaged more minutes (14.8) his rookie year with brian hill than his 2nd season (with stan) 8.1min. 34games
Redicks 3rd season he started to become a role player, his 4th season is when he got locked in

stan did a good job of helping to develop those guys, but stan brought them along slowly, which isnt always a bad thing

Caoch Vaughn is trying to win a winnable game. Playing a rookie that failed to make camp is not a path towards victories.

Development =/= Playtime

The whole Stan not playing young players is only kinda true I think. Fans just got so traumatized watching J-Rich and Hedo start at the wings and Duhon play backup PG that the rookies became overrated. It is easy to see now that Harper, Ish, and Orton are not good basketball players.

Harkless has played pretty well as of the past couple of games but he stunk it up tonight and didn't really outplay McBob. If the trade deadline comes and Harkless still isn't playing then maybe it is a problem, but as of now he is a rookie trying to beat out a vet.
