They interview him and he just says " I wanted to go get serious for my contract year"I'll bet he would have better hops and not get blocked as much around the rim. He would basically be the same size as Brandon Bass and he dunks it super easy around the rim.

Whaddaya think? Players are supposed to lose weight when they get older anyways if they wanna keep playing, as Caron Butler did.

Do we really want a player that only tries to "get right" for a contract year?

sure.. if we're gunning for the championship

Which we are not... as currently constructed, right? And he's a "leader" on the team.. Not exactly something the rooks need to see...only getting in shape because of a contract year..

I dont know why but I get the feeling he is going to be one of those players that if anything gets bigger as his career goes long.

I dont see why he would get in shape if he didn't bother to when he was on a potential championship team (Celtics) or knew he'd have a much larger role (Orlando, also no pun intended).

Sure a contract year might entice him to shed a few pounds, but he's had plenty of reason to before and hasn't bothered.

As for would it do him some favours? Of course, it doesn't matter if he is not an athletic/explosive player, carrying less weight would be huge (again no pun intended) as long as he did it right. If he cut some fat, while still looking to gain power/strength. Any professional athlete that is in such a dynamic sport like basketball and is carrying around a huge excess of fat/body weight is doing it wrong, its not like baseball or even american football where the fat boys can sit down after they have run 4 yards.

If Big Baby came to camp in great shape, then I would have to say he is going to prove ya'll wrong.

If he came to came in shape that would be what proved me wrong.

I think IF he did come in shape, he'd be a significantly better player, I mean honestly, is a shock to expect a professional athlete to improve his condition and shape and expect more of him because of it?

I'd rather he showed up 5 inches taller.

Davis had this whole off season to make a great year for Orlando. The trainers have concluded that he is in vascular shape. So he must have done a lot of wind sprints. For the weight, he had this Summer to prove us, and well, he failed. Why would he succeed next year where he failed this year?

Davis is Davis.

I find assumption from OP about loosing weight to jump few inches higher hardly relevant.

IMHO, Glen strength lies in his weight and using it in positioning and to body bigger players in the post. When we played Celtics in playoffs, Big Baby demonstrated it perfectly against Dwight, even though D12 could probably outjump him by a foot.

What is important when it comes to weight, is that a player should be well conditioned to endure 40+ mins and not be a slug. I've seen much worse cases than BBD when it comes to that.

Who are you kidding... if Davis came to camp even heavier, then you would still say he's going to "prove ya'll wrong."

BBD IS going to prove ya'll wrong either way!!!

All fun aside, BBD has a huge matchup against Tim Duncan tonight. He needs to play his best game and not take risky shots because a crafty defensive Vet like Tim Duncan can shut him down.

because it's the last straw so to speak, it's the last explanation we can cling to as to why Baby isn't as good as we'd like him to be

if Kevin Love and Kendrick Perkins did it, then there's no reason to think Big Baby wouldn't do it.

If he's in training camp next year, that means he hasn't been traded
let's see to it, that this doesn't happen

Someone thinks he'll be an allstar this season... if he came into shape next year, bbd might just be a superstar then.

What if Jameer and Big Baby both gained 150 lbs? Jameer at 350 and Glen at 450. Talk about selling tickets. I'd fly cross country to see that.

When measuring outlandish statements, the op and mine are equal.

Buy it, invest in it. That vid was just last year and Glen was playing at 317 pounds with us last year (quoted per a Magic coach).

EDIT: My bad, i thought it was last year because of the guy saying is that J-Rich with him....Either way...Glen is and has been 300 plus.

BBD did slim down one year in Boston, I think it was his contract year, this vid might be from that season.
