To the Bleacher Report writer who gave us a D+

...for our performance thusfar in the season, what in the world were you expecting?!

We have four role-playing veterans, two injured veterans, and a team of young, unproven first and second year prospects. I think it's perfectly reasonable not to expect much, but how can you assess a team that has (at least in my book) significantly out-performed expectations a grade this low?

The Bobcats, one game worse than us in the standings, received an A- by comparison.

If there was one team I could chose not to watch again this season, it would be the Orlando Magic.

Exactly! I was arguing about this in the power ranking thread. It's a terrible grade, makes no damn sense other than the guy dislikes the Magic. You can also include Detroit (7-16 on the year) who got a B.

Magic got no respect with or without Dwight. Typical. Bring on the haterz.

I guess he expected us to be a top 4 seed.

The media genuinely expected Orlando to be Washington Bullets bad, and thus, the D- ranking. Frankly, the Magic are to deep to be bad. The media are thus bad to not notice that strict fact.

These bloggers probably aren't even watching the Magic or the Bobcats...
Most outside Orlando, maybe even some within, would say we've exceeded expectations with such an inexperienced, injury-riddled squad with no star-power. Also, I guess whoever made the list stopped paying attention to the bobcats after they got their 7th win because they're currently back to being the joke of the NBA with 8 losses in a row, including a game where they were down by 50+pts shortly after halftime, another game where they blew a 20pt lead in the final minutes of regulation, and a recent 30pt slaughtering. A- my @ss.

Bleacherreport also said:

The Orlando Magic are the most impressive bad team in recent memory.

Andrew Nicholson has been one of the most impressive rookies and is entirely under the radar. On Sunday night, he went 9-of-11 from the field in 25 minutes. He may never be anything close to a star, but Nicholson has demonstrated an ability to shoot at the NBA level. He could be a steal at the 19th pick, and he's playing as well as any rookie selected.

I didn't understand this either. Usually, grades like this are give versus expectation. In some of their team reviews, it clearly was. So, unless they had the Magic at winning 40+ games, how are the not overachieving?
I would give us an incomplete, because the object of the 1st half of the season is set up trade deadline deals that will better the Magic in the long run. Which is going to plan, but let's see what it brings in.
