This is exactly why I thought people were too quick to criticise Henny. This guy was a good aquisition and a very deliberate decision obviously. He didn't make a mistake he chose this as the best option. I'll take this guy over Andrew Bynum and his glass body any day of the week. Don't hink he will be a superstar but he has proved he can be a starting center in this league and likely a very good one in time.
Give Henny a chance

Great effort by V.

I wonder how Philly is feeling now about this.....

I'm in Texas and don't have Dish Network, so I've been unable to watch my fave team this year also.
Is he better than Seikelly (sp?).

Love seeing my countrymen do well, especially when it's at the expense of a schmuck like Bosh.

Props to you guys for actually getting value for your former star.

as a Knick fan I gotta say that Vucevic is a really solid Center....Don't get expectations too high in terms of him ever becoming an all-star or superstar but he is a solid starting Center with the ability to put up 15/11 on a nightly basis. He is REALLY young and has no real hole in his game.
That said , IMO he doesn't have the athleticism and fluidity to really be great at either side of the court. Considering the circumstances he is a great find for the Magic and an absolutely legit starting Center. I can envision him becoming something close to a prime Brad Miller. Good midrange shooter, good rebounder, high bball IQ.

- Vucevic through 31 games (2nd year, first as a starter at 31 minutes/game): 10.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks.
- Vucevic Per 36 minutes: 12.7 points, 12.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks.
- Howard in his second year at 37 minutes/game: 15.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks.

Not bad at all.

Miller was a two time allstar... he averaged 10 rebounds just once in his career. Niko is already averaging 10.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and a block at 22 yrs old in his second year, his first as a starter. I believe that's good for 2nd in the east in rebounding, ahead of Noah and Chanlder, and he's only playing 30 minutes a game. His scoring and rebounding would go up slightly with a bump in minutes, too, especially if coach starts using him as a consistent offensive option. I would not be surprised if he made an allstar game in a couple years as long as we start winning more than losing. Just wait till he adds some muscle. He's basically what Darko should have been. He won't be a superstar, but I don't see why he can't make a couple allstar games as an East reserve.

Great job by Vuc! Besides the rebounds and 20 points he also had some decent defense on Lebron.. I don't think he has star potential but he's a very capable starter and should only get better. I think it would benefit him if he gets some playing time at PF with a defensive C next to him.

This kid is the real deal. To think the media thought he was an afterthought, a throw in, but Henny scouted this guy at USC and he demanded Vuce in the trade, he knows what he is doing.

Vuce has a chance to be an allstar for years to come. So happy to have a young talented skilled center that does not rely on jumping and strength.

His instincts for rebounding are real good, he doesn't get them with sheer size or athleticism, he just plays the percentages, he also has very long arms, when he bulks up he can be a 17 point guy, he has to be stronger trying to finish plays off, overall there's alot to like about him

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

If Vucevic bulks up in the next 2 years while continuing to improve, we'll have a younger, more finesse, and better rebounding version of Nikola Pekovic on our hands. :)

Not that they are not alike: both are named Nikola, from Montenegro and both play basketball as C, but apart from that, their game is totally different.

I don't get the obsession with being an "all-star". Vucci is a damn good center right now at 22 and will only get better, regardless of whether he gets voted on to the popular team.
