The winner was Zhai Yi, a third-string guard for Shanghai, and even the champion's dunks weren't pretty. The contest was sponsored by shoe company Li-Ning, and Zhai hoped to slam the ball while sticking a sneaker to the backboard. The shoe stuck, but the ball didn't go in. He eventually put it in on his third attempt, the shoe hovering as a mute witness to his failure.

Zhai's second dunk was more successful, and just as unimpressive. Taking a cue from Blake Griffin skying over a Kia, Zhai dunked over a tiny little go-kart shaped like a sneaker. Except he sort of jumped around the front of it, even though it was only about 18 inches high at that end. He also needed three attempts. This was one:

Image

Second place went to Sen Tiangui for trying (and failing) to dunk over an oversized novelty inflatable rice ball, performed after serving the judges some rice balls. (Happy Chinese New Year!) He would get it on the second attempt, and receive 48 out of a possible 50 points.\

I bet he'll ignore the free throws, look at his 6/8 FG line, notice kobe got 22+ FGA, and then complain he didn't get enough touches...

Dwight has had 12% of his close shot attempts blocked this season. That was 8% last year, and 6% the year before.

I smell a stat sheet being printed by Dwight's friend.

What a way to end the game. Dwight looked like he had the ball and faried grabbed it and dunked. Hope Utah can pull out an OT win.

How many times is Fisher going to come back and then retire in the same month because of family issues only to come back the same season with a different (ahem better) team.

Jeez man. No wonder they want to get rid of him as President of the NBAPA.

Yeah, it's kind of weird, but at this point it doesn't even matter... fisher sucks now. Dude is 38 and all he can do is make an open three from time to time...

then we don't get their 2017 pick. I would rather them make the playoffs, them get crushed in the first round and get their 2017 pick.

The game was like a "dunk over Dwight contest".

Notice how Dwight quickly blamed Kobe by pointing at him after the Farried poster lol. I cant stand Dwight, its clearly his own fault that dunk happened to him and he like he has all season blames the closest teammate. Its pathetic. Its obvious Dwight can't jump, run, move like he used to and still some people would take him back at the max with the attitude and all. That's lunacy.

Dwight can barely get off the ground at this point. Dwight is not an effective player anymore.

3-14 from the FT line lmao.

I'm a little confused on this one. It sounds like they will automatically complete this part of the trade:

The L.A. Lakers will send the least favorable of their own 1st round pick (top-14 protected), Cleveland's own 2013 1st round pick, Sacramento's own 1st round pick (top-13 protected) and Miami's 2013 1st round pick to Phoenix. If the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick is within the top-14 selections, Phoenix will automatically receive the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick. [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

Does the Magic's 2017 pick have to do with the LA's 2015 obligation to the Suns?

2015 first round draft pick to Phoenix
The L.A. Lakers own 2015 1st round pick to Phoenix (Top-5 Protected in the 2015 NBA Draft, top-3 protected in 2016, top-3 protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft). [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

As I read it, so long as the Lakers do no get the top 5 pick in 2015, we will get their 1st round in 2017, so long as it is not in the top 5.

2017 first round draft pick to Orlando
The L.A. Lakers' own 2017 1st round draft pick to Orlando two years after The L.A. Lakers satisfy their obligation to send Phoenix a first round pick.(Top-5 Protected in the 2017 NBA Draft, top-5 protected in 2018 and unprotected in the 2019 NBA Draft. If The L.A. Lakers' cannot satisfy their obligation to send Phoenix a first round pick by the 2017 NBA Draft, then the L.A. Lakers will convey their own second round picks in 2017 and 2018 to Orlando. [L.A. Lakers - Orlando, 8/10/2012]

So if the Lakers do not have a top 5 pick in 2015, they should satisfy their obligation to send Phoenix a first round pick and 2 years later, 2017, would owe us their 1st rounder.
