He is really good. At playing the role he had for the Hawks. You don't pay a guy $60 million to hope he can effectively replicate his past role as a 3 and D hustle player on your team. Which is what the Raptors have done, unless they think he's capable of more than that (which he really isn't). This won't be a Landry Fields situation by any means, but disappointment seems all but guaranteed.

"But these contracts are gonna look like bargains in a couple years!"

I don't know if you were planning on using that argument or not, but regardless, I'm tired of seeing this. I understand that these contracts are going to be placed on a different scale in a couple years. But spending money haphazardly is never going to be a good thing, increased cap or not.

I was definitely never going to use the salary cap argument. It's just stupid on all fronts.

My thing is Demarre excels at skills that font require a certain type of team. His skills fit anywhere. I don't think Masai is expecting him to blow up and drop 20 per game, and that's good. Carroll will earn his money.

Tons of uncontested shots in ATL, too. His efficiency will likely go down.

I don't think he suddenly becomes a guy who takes contested shots. I don't really care about his volume. Love his efficiency though.

You do know losing to Hinkie means winning games, and winning means losing games. He loves the team being bottom feeders until he can get that "superstar".

i think the point is that the quality of shots he's going to be getting will be lower, perhaps a lot lower, in toronto than they were in atlanta. it's reasonable to assume that his efficiency will go down because of this.

I think he went for the pick swaps from Sacramento because he expects to have a better record. That's what I meant.

Signing 22 year old Bismack Biyombo to a 2 year 6 million contract is why Masai is awesome.

Bizmark ain' that good is why nobody really chased him. I doubt Henny ever targeted him. Magic fans targeted him. Same with Kofax.

He was seriously overrated. Dude ain't no $12 mil player. He is a marginal starter.

It's like they want Cousins to demand a trade.

That's way too much. I don't care about how deals are suppose to look better in a few years, that just seems like a crazy contract to give a backup that hasn't really shown much, I dont care what organization he played for before. I also get that he is still pretty young, but for me I rather have Watson or Stuckey with their deals than that Joseph one, even if they are quite a bit older.

Preach, brother, preach.

I can't emphasize enough how strongly I feel about it.

Good GMs acquire contracts like Vučević's, which will be simply silly good in 2 years.

Today even bad GM can drop a max on average or above average, but not great talent, and justify it with said line.

The salary cap was raised to pay guys like Lebron James more than what they are getting. Not to make role players make almost the same money as Lbj is making now.

I'd rather the 'minimum' level and role player contracts go up than give it all to Lebron and the like. They make plenty off of endorsements to supplant their meager 20+ million per year contracts.
