Do the players you support indicate your personality?

Post#1 » by MellowRose » Sat Mar 22, 2014 6:38 pm

Been thinking about this, and I'm a fan of dudes like Smart, Ben Wallace, Rodman, Jimmy Butler,Westbrook etc...And if you meet me, I'll probably rub you one way or the other.

Then of course, there are those who support what some consider as "soft" players, and they're actions will match the players they support.

Don't know if I'm making any sense, since I'm in a rush, but if you understand what I'm saying, do you agree or not?

I get what you are saying, but I do not have an inclination to support a particular type player. I generally look at only one intangible: winner mentality. The rest of subjective traits may or may not matter in various contexts.

However, I like watching crafty players on offense and physical guys on defense if that makes any sense.

Maybe in a way, it does
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Yeah I think so. I tend to despise players whose values dont match mine. In particular, players who are all about the money or their "brand" I dont like. I love the underdog players who fight hard and put team first. Darrell Armstrong was a fav of old and now I like Dipo and O'Quinn.

In terms of who I single out as favorites, I tend to like smart, high character guys. JJ is my favorite player ever.

But ultimately, it's about the success of the team. I liked Pat Garrity, thought he was a good guy. But he was terrible during the final stage of his career and I'd groan whenever Brian Hill sent him in. If we brought in some despicable human being like JR Smith, and he was in the rotation and we were competing for a championship, I would wish he made every shot he took. I'd still loathe him, but like it or not, he'd be a part of the team.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

My favorite all-time players are Chris Paul, Allen Iverson, Paul George, Kyrie Irving, and Nick Anderson.
My favorite Magic players are Nick Anderson, Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson, Victor Oladipo, Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris, Tracy McGrady, and Arron Afflalo. Analyze me. :)

I do feel like people that like arrogant SOB's like LeBron tend to be arrogant SOB's themselves. Look at Heat fans for example. 8-)

I feel like my Personality is like Jameer, Laid back, but have a type of confidence that doesn't come off as Ego, but if something is on my mind, I don't mind speaking up. Something about having a chip on my shoulder and thrive on that. Hence why he's my top five Magic Players of all time and current. Oladipo can describe me too, I can have fun, but also have a serious approach and get amped from time to time, but most of the time, soft spoken.

Wonder if anyone got a little bit of DA in them, go hard 110% in life, lol

Interesting list of faves. Paul George?

I see you like hard workers with AI and Nick and Arron on the list. You also like players who let their play speak for them and aren't flashy like Shard, Meer and Nikola. T-Mac, Chris Paul and Paul George though. They are just really good, but their personalities stink imo. I hope you aren't like that. I will have to e-divorce you.

This is a fun question, but no i don't think it's indicative of anything major.
