Twenty-one win season.... hey remember the last time...!

Post#1 » by CZ Eddie » Sat Mar 29, 2014 9:14 pm

So, as of last night we hit 21 wins and there are nine games left in the year for us.
The last time we had a 21 win season (I'm hoping for more this year) we ended up taking Dwight Howard in the lottery.

Here's the team from the 21-win season:

Here are the results of the 21 win season:
Record: 21-61, Finished 7th in NBA Atlantic Division
Coaches: Doc Rivers (1-10), Johnny Davis (20-51)

And here are the results from the following year with Dwight and Jameer:
Record: 36-46, Finished 3rd in NBA Southeast Division
Coaches: Johnny Davis (31-33), Chris Jent (5-13)
Three coaches in two years. :o

The 2004 - 2005 season that followed was a special one for me. We had a great draft and Grant Hill finally came back healthy, even becoming an All-Star that year.

Steve Francis was also fun to watch, despite the downward spiral that followed shortly after the Mobley-Christie mess.

21 is my lucky number.

let's lose every game for the rest of the season, and i think we'll either end up with the #1 pick, or at the very least, the best player in the draft.

Remember the first time we had 21 wins, as well. That was season 3, and we ended up with Shaq as a result.

Why not hope to win every game for the rest of the season, AND win the lottery? Would that not be a more enjoyable conclusion to the season and early off-season?

that would mess up the whole 'lucky number 21' thing.

21 wins = #1 pick = franchise changing Center.

Shaq. Dwight. Embiid.

Boom!

After such a rotten season - finishing with the worst record, going on a 19-game losing streak, firing Doc Rivers, and losing Tracy McGrady - all of a sudden we had something to be excited about. High school phenom Dwight Howard was here, and so was CPOY Jameer Nelson. 'Stevie Franchise' was in town, and Grant Hill was finally back.

And we got off to such a good start. We were above .500! At one point, we were leading our division! Mobley and Cato were becoming fan favorites, and all of a sudden it was fun to watch Magic games again. And then the trade... And then Doug Christie... And then the decline... And then Chris Jent...

But it all started off so promising, didn't it? :-?

Drew Gooden: DNP-Infected Hair Follicles................

Reece Gaines getting abused worse than any player I ever seen in his first real game of the season against Baron Davis. He checks in, receives the inbound passed and is harassed at halfcourt by Davis like a dog in heat. Davis steals the ball and dunks. Ball is inbounded again, Gaines gets harassed again, steal, Davis dunk. That's when I knew that he might not amount to much. It was a also a microcosm of the season that was about to come, first loss of the 19 game streak lol.

Juwan Howard and his ugly flat shot.

19 losses in a row.

Britton Johnson dunking on rookie Lebron in the summer league lmao.

Britton Johnson an opening day starter lmao.

Britton Jonshon getting waived 20 games after being the opening day starter lmao.

Tyronn Lue starting PG lmao. He actually made a game winner in game I went against Atlanta lol.

Johhny Davis, expression-less, eyebrow-less face. Mr wrestlers total devotion.

Zaza!!! I was really upset we left him unprotected in the expansion draft. Fav player that year.

Bogans only player other than Zaza that really tried lol.

Lee Nailon proclaiming he wanted to spend the rest of his career with the Magic lmao.

Andrew StoneHands DeClerq.

Robert Archibald traded for, plays one game, traded again lol.

Steven Hunter, invisible like usual.

Gordan Giricek with some kind of ear infection from his ear ring lol.

Thinking Deshawn Stevenson was legit lol.

Tmac punting the ball to the upper deck lol.

Tmac 62 points.

That was also my first year on RealGM lol. I am battle tested lol.

Wow, I couldn't remember half of those until your post! This year feels completely different compared to that nightmare season.

Without a doubt this year is so much more enjoyable, fun, and more hopeful than that 2003-4 season. These current young guys are fun to watch, there is talent and potential and they produce, real sense of direction from management. That Tmac lead team was depressing to watch. We only had Tmac who was a top 5 player but he was disgruntled, rightly so, because he was carrying the team those years before with no real help and no Grant Hill. Gooden, our young prized player, proved thought out the year to be a goofy headcase and loser. Our rookie, Gaines, was pure trash and had that deer in the headlights look. Britton Jonhson, a training camp invite, was our starter on opening night, on a team that was supposed to battle to make the playoffs, think about that. Seeing Drew Gooden lose his headband then completely ignore the game to go after it which lead to a turnover and dunk for the other team was disgusting. Juwan Howard being bad at everything. Watching Tyronn Lue get abused every night...........That year was truly a nightmare.

Funniest thing was Lee Nailon getting signed to a 10 day contract then proclaiming he wanted to retire as a Magic. Weakest brownosing to management I ever seen lol. Oh and Tmac kicking the ball to the 2nd deck of the Orena lmao.

I remember the Magic played the Knicks on the road to start the season, and the game was nationally televised. The Magic won a tight one, and we were all feeling pretty good about T-Mac and the year ahead.

Then we lost 19 in a row.

At least this year we have exciting young talent. Except, those Magicians had TMAC who was a great deal more exciting then than any player on this team.
