Long term I would rather have the 2 guys we have.

I think Elfrid is going to be a top 5 PG in this league eventually and Gordon is going to blossom hopefully like Blake did with hard work.

My soul is burning watching Wiggins vs Parker right now but if EP ends up being the best point guard in this draft i will easily get over it regardless of how Gordon shakes out.

What I wish is that we had gotten one of the top 2 picks. We would then have one of them plus Payton...

Wiggins/Parker

I don't mind eating crow 2 or 3 years from now. I have high hopes for Elfrid Payton. Not sure what to expect from Aaron Gordon yet.

So essentially would we rather have ace shooting or ace defense?

wiggins or parker

the difference between them and gordon is astonishing in terms of basketball skill

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Either Parker or Wiggins, no doubt.

I rather wait and see how all the players turn out before saying who I rather have. Are Wiggins and Parker going to be really good players, probably. But whose to say Gordon can't be as good if not better? Is it just because he didn't have the best Summer League ever? Or because of how raw he is and people are too scared or impatient to watch him develop? We don't know how any of these guys will truly turn out, hell they haven't even played a single NBA game yet! Personally though, I like what we got, I trust Hennigan, and I'm excited to see how our rookies turn out. I'm not disappointed one bit we didn't trade up for either of them.

I don't know, I get what people are saying, and I'm not saying Wiggins and Parker aren't really impressive. It's just been so annoying over this past week to see people trash on Gordon, give up on him, and act like he's a bust because of the stupid Summer League. Have a little bit a faith people, the kid is 18, he's going to be fine and we're going to have two really good players because of this draft. Be happy and be excited for once!

I'll take our guys.

I'm extremely high on Elfrid.. he might be the best overall, 2-way player out of all four of 'em when its all over.

Obviosly Gordon and Payton. Admittedly, only because of Payton.

The trade that was suggested was 1 for 4+12+AA. Might as well ask if we'd rather have Wiggins/Parker or Gordon, Payton, Fournier, and Marble. That puts an extra wrinkle into it.

Related question:

I missed a lot of the draft discussion. Do most people think Henny wanted Wiggins or Parker, knew he couldn't get them, and decided to take two shots at a franchise player rather than Exum+whatever?

I wish GMs would declassify their thought process after 25 years or something. :)

To answer the question, I think I'd rather have Gordon and Payton for the same reason we didn't take Exum: less hype, so they are less likely to be full of themselves and skip town in 4 years. When you have a 10 year shoe deal, hometown pride is a little less relevant. Parker tanked a workout to avoid Cleveland. Let's see what he does if Milwaukee still sucks in a few years. Maybe he'd like Orlando more (I get it, Cleveland sucks) but it's still disconcerting.

I bet the key attribute Henny liked from these two was the team-first attitude. Character is about more than work ethic and responsible life habits.

Right now, AG and Payton, 2 chances at top level talent are better then one. Of course hindsight is 20/20 so in 5 years all of us will know the answer, till then I say we let them play some basketball.

This is the post draft version of "would you trade 4&12 for 1?"

Yea basically.. and to the poster who said Afflalo was involved in the deal we
made the deal for Afflalo long before draft night and were still in the mix for the first pick up until a few hours before the draft. I think 4 and 12 was the Cavs best offer and had Embid fallin to 4 then that trade might have gone down.
