Jameer Nelson - Dallas Mavericks

Post#1 » by the_hobo » Wed Jul 23, 2014 1:58 am

I don't know how to embed twits but I saw Marc Stein's feed on ESPN:

"ESPN sources say Mavs will be hosting free-agent point guard Jameer Nelson in Dallas for a face-to-face visit Thursday"

That would be a good opportunity for him to compete for a relatively strong team. I hope he gets a good deal.

I've thought for a while that Dallas would be the best situation for Jameer. He would be the starter on a strong contender, and I think would fit that roster well.

Pretty solid signing by Dallas...

The Mavs are looking real good right now...

Very happy for him.

nelson is still a good player but if the mavs are expecting starters minutes out of him and hoping for success in the playoffs they will be disappointed. Chandler is a good defender, but jesus how is he supposed to account for having Nelson, Ellis and Dirk on the team defending? That team was awful on defense last year and will be even worse if they give nelson starter's minutes.

Would be a solid outcome for both sides. And anywhere but the Heat makes him easy to root for. :)

still not many options left for them

Fat Felton?
Maybe Harris will start.

They sure not going to be able to sign Bledsoe
so who else is there on FA pg market?
Sessions and Nelson

Good news, as long as he doesn't go to Miami, Boston, LA or Houston.

The guys on the Mavs board I've been reading see him as the starter. Their appreciation of his game seems to be far greater than at least half the posters on this board, along with their analysis of it as well.

I wouldn't mind him there, I cannot stand Raymond Felton though. I hope Meer would start over him.

A day that will live in infamy.

Also, he'd be going to join Raymond Felton. Which calls to mind...

I was hoping he would go to a much better team, like the Spurs or someone like them. But, the Mavs aren't a bad option since he doesn't want to come off the bench. I also like the Mavericks. I wonder who else is interested though.

I read that Rashard has injured his knee and that because of that he failed his physical with Mavs and is now a FA again. Can't remember where I read it though. Also, not sure how serious his injury is, but if he is FA again now because of it, doesn't sound promising for Shard.

They did just get Chandler back. He covers many of those defensive liabilities.

MightyMidget Meer can run that offense, although not deep into the playoffs.

So ECF finals against a very Good elite defense Boston team isn't "deep into the playoffs"?

As long as he doesn't get the attention of a premiere perimeter defender. They will be fine.

Absolutely. Playing under Rick Carlisle, Jameer will do just fine. I have no doubts about this at all.

I am happy for Jameer if he does play for Dallas. That's a good fit for him and a good organization.
