Fantasy Basketball A and B Leagues Check In

Post#1 » by HoraceGrant » Mon Aug 25, 2014 2:28 pm

I know we are in the heart of Fantasy Football Draft time of year, but isn't it around this time that we start talking about the drafts in our official RealGM A and B Leagues in Fantasy Basketball?

I won A League for the first time last season, so I am pumped to try to defend my title! I don't know who is usually in charge of setting the whole thing up, but just wanted to see when we were doing it.

I made it to the quarter finals after winning every week until the trade deadline last year of the B League. Then, I got stuck players traded to teams who hardly played em anymore with not much on the waiver line. Thus, I would like to try both leagues this year because:

What do we normally do to get this going? I believe I remember a sign up page, then once the teams are set they set a draft start time. Who was in charge last year?

I may be able to do it, just don't know quite what to do in the threads here. I can set up the league on Yahoo just the same as we've had it the past few years.

Here's what I found from TNMagicFans post from last year...

Alrighty guys, to get things in order for the draft, please reply to this post with an email address we can contact you on for the draft. I'll add it to the first post once done.

For those of you who are new to the process, we need email addresses so that we can contact people when they are on the clock to draft.

The draft won't start until I have an email address from all entrants. I will then send an email to everyone to announce the start date for the draft, once everyone has signed up.

RULES
Here are a few simple rules to get us started:
- No discussing undrafted players in this thread.
- Each player gets 12 hours to make their draft selection. Please make sure you're able to check in on this message board, or at least with your given email address, fairly frequently during the draft process)
- Please post your draft selection in the draft thread (to be created once all email addresses are submitted).
- If you're unable to make your selection, or you know you will be unavailable when your pick comes up, please send a list of preferential players to me (TNMagicFan) or to another player, to make your selection on your behalf. This will help keep the draft running at a decent pace.
- If you miss your draft selection window, your pick will be skipped and the draft will continue with all subsequent players in draft order, until you get online and make your selection. At which point, you can only select players available at that time, you can't go back and select a player who would have been available at your draft position but has since been taken.
- After you make your selection, please email the two people following your selection to notify them that they are on the clock and to be prepared for their pick to come up.

LEAGUE
The draft will be run in serpentine order, based off the order below.
The league will be H2H.
We will use Yahoo Fantasy Bball to run our league.

I won B last year, and I'd like to play again. Don't mind if I'm in A or B. Definitely can't commish, though.

The main reason why I discontinued playing was the drafting took forever. I would suggest setting up leagues with the actual draft date. If we all know in advance we can make plans for it. I'm always able to request off of work.

It's just too tough to get 16 people available all at once from all around the world. I enjoy the long draft, gives me something to do during my downtime at work!

How should we start getting this set up? Make a new thread for signup or check-in from last year? Is there anyone who has commished a league before that is willing to do it?

I think we usually do some from B League get promoted to A League and then the bottom A League guys drop to B League, right? Does anyone have the results from B League last season?
