Magic sign Marble: rookie year guarenteed

Post#1 » by drsd » Fri Sep 12, 2014 9:11 am

The Orlando Magic signed second-round pick Devyn Marble today.

The contract will be for three seasons, according to an industry source familiar with the terms of the contract.

Marble’s rookie season will be fully guaranteed.

His second and third seasons are non-guaranteed but would become guaranteed if Marble remains on the roster after specified trigger dates on the calendar.

O-Sen LINK

Clearly Marble most be showing a lot in the practice facility. Great news!

With the signing, Orlando now has 14 players under contract.

Ridnour has not officially signed meaning that Orlando has its 15 man roster in full. Perhaps the Dragić rumor was just that, a media-invented rumor.

...

Edit: I am finding the new O-Sen layout confusing for date. Oh well.

I would have been disappointed if they had not, so good.

Marble was signed in July.

We also have Siva who will be sent down to the D-League at the end of the preseason. 16 players, but only 14 guaranteed contracts because Dedmon's isn't guaranteed until Opening Night in New Orleans.

Hopefully, Marble can develop like Afflalo did coming out as a college player many didn't expect to develop the way he did.

Orlando, Fla. – The Orlando Magic have signed free agent guard Luke Ridnour, General Manager Rob Hennigan announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

“We’re extremely excited to welcome Luke (Ridnour) and his family to Orlando,” said Hennigan. “Luke is a proven player in this league who is well-respected as a teammate and competitor. The depth and veteran experience he will provide to our backcourt will help our team continue to grow.”

As for Marble, if he can just be a solid 3 and D guy, i'd be ecstatic. Hoping he's another solid 2nd rounder like KOQ.

While it's sometimes worth it to take a gamble in the second round, it's nice to see that Hennigan and Co. seem to go after productive basketball players in the second who can turn out to be pretty solid NBA players.

I'm not following the Dragic rumour as closely as some so I'm not down with the latest developments, but he could also have been using us as leverage ("these are the teams who've had a word with me, now pay me or someone else will" kinda thing).

I'm happy for Marble though. I'm rooting for him and hopefully he can stay around for when the side starts to peak.

I already like Marble more than I ever liked Deron Lamb.

He really needs to grow out of that shuffle step to keep from getting an overwhelming number of travel calls i the NBA.

If he was on the right team, he'd be in the running for ROTY. On ours, he won't get enough minutes. But he's got the talent. Before I get killed, I'm talking like top 5 or 10.

Ys..im spamming Devyn Marble today....we ignore is one. My gut tells me he either is or will soon be better all around player then Fournier.
