I don't recall the last time I had an aspirin as it may have been over a year ago myself. Never tried antacid or viagra either while I only caught a cold once in 20 years as a 3-7lb a week meat eater. Genetics my friend.

Oh yeh, I ran a couple 25 mile marathons and played open level soccer on a team with ex pro players mostly from Holland.

It will catch up with you my friend.

By the way, I haven't missed a day of work in 8 years and am the top performer at my job out of 81. Maybe I'll get the big screen TV if I keep my lead in the last quarter.

I have missed a total of 4 days due to sickness with all those days pertaining to one incident because of the flu that went thru the building since 2000.

Love cutting weight eating 200g+ carbs per day and gaining eating 600g per day :)

Why does it make you laugh? Everyone's body is different and reacts differently. Your method might not work for everyone. I've been hitting the gym 4 days a week. Mostly spinning to save my knees and lifting and I wasn't dropping weight at the rate I think I should have until I significantly cut back on animal based products. I'm not extreme vegetarian but I've cut back on quantity of meat in my diet and I actually feel better and lost weight while building muscle.

Calories in vs calories out is science, its not up for debate.

Seriously can we lock this thread up already? We are going around and around in circles. Absolute waste of time.

But hey, since we are just plucking out random studies to support our viewpoint, heres an article on how vegans are unhealthier and more mentally disturbed than non vegans. Conclusive and comprehensive:

University of Graz Study Finds Vegetarians Are Unhealthier, More Mentally Disturbed Than Meat-Lovers
http://notrickszone.com/2014/03/30/university-of-graz-study-finds-that-vegetarians-are-unhealthier-more-mentally-disturbed-than-meat-lovers/

The direct link to the study:
http://www.plosone.org/article/fetchObj ... tation=PDF

Some of the hot points:
- Vegetarians “have cancer and heart attacks more often”.
- Vegetarians have more psychological disorders than meat eaters.
- Consequently, the report writes, they are a greater burden on the health care system.

Enjoy

I agree with you vegetarians can be unhealthy. A lot of them still eat eggs, drink milk, and eat white processed foods.

Can we both agree that this Magic team is going to be heaps of fun to watch this year and move on?

Carl Lewis and Ricky Williams are the only vegan athletes I remember reading about. I think Carl Lewis was only vegan during training and then when not training maybe veggie or flexitarian. I looked up Ricky Williams and found a pretty interesting article:

http://www.mensjournal.com/magazine/goi ... l-20130123

I mean I was a college athlete and vegan for a bit. I wish I didn't base my diet so much around tofu now learning about the high estrogen levels and what not but I did alright. It's not convenient at all, especially if you don't cook. It shouldn't be a problem for pro athletes. They can just hire someone to make sure they are getting enough protein and omega's. It's just a matter of people being skeptical or offended by your choices (like the above article talks about).

Diet studies are often tainted by healthy user bias. Vegan and vegetarian benefits are magnified compared to "meat-eaters" in many studies because those who practice meat-free eating habits are generally more obsessed with living a healthier lifestyle overall, especially in the US. They aren't just cutting meat out of their lives, they're going above and beyond the average person in terms of health and fitness. If the only difference in lifestyle was whether one ate a moderate amount of meat or not in their diet, the studies would look much different.
