He dunks really easily. Regardless he is still a project offensively in the halfcourt.

I'm really not onboard with this assessment. Define project. Because to me, project assumes he's got nothing reliable, nothing consistent. Some flashes, but that's it.

Right now, he could easily be a ready to be a role player in an offense. He can hit open shots, he can make passes, he can dribble, he can finish strong and he's already developed some nice jump shots in the paint.

As a superstar go to player on offense, sure, he's a project, because he's not even been considered as an option like that currently.

It really makes no sense. We still have 6'8 Harkless even if Gordon isn't able to play. Yes, Harkless isn't assertive about scoring...so what. He might take 3 shots in 25 minutes. But doing very little is better than harming the team...imo.

KD had similar surgery on October 13th and got back on the floor December 2nd (so out about 6 weeks).

Gordon's surgery was on November 21st...and at that time they said he would be reevaluated in 6-8 weeks. So an early February return seems likely.
