Dedmon is far too low, he actually has a potentially elite skill with his rim protection. being elite at one thing is better than being decent/mediocre at alot COUGH Nicholson

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

183. Evan Fournier. Frankly I see this as spot on. A 183 ranking means a high 6th man over the league standard. For me this means Fournier is seen as a near elite 6th man.

Note that Orlando has a load of players still to rank. All Magic starters will slot to a starter level of quality by the ESPN press.

No, starter level would be 150 or below. 6th men would be 180 and below.

I'm actually surprised anyone knows who he is.

Kyle O'Quinn was worse in just about every metric compared to 13-14, but his ESPN Rank goes from 370 to 228. Apparently the New York media knows who he is now. ;)

Hezonja at 236 is listed behind a couple guys drafted after him, like Bobby Portis and Stanley Johnson. Plus I'm sure there are others like Justise Winslow. I'm fine with the number -- it puts him as a 7th-8th man -- it's just funny how much these things are all about name recognition. It's almost like draft charts for NBA players.

CJ Watson at 229.

Yawn... just win.

Holy smokes O'quinn jumped 142 spots?! Pure media driven Super Mario 3 warp zone jump right there.

172. Channing Frye. About right. But the surroundings amaze me. Frye is just over: Jared Dudley, Josh McRoberts, Willie Cauley-Stein, Gerald Henderson, Alex Len, Anderson Varejão, and Evan Turner. But is behind: 171. Tyler Zeller. LOL.

What is left is the probable starting five on opening night: Payton/Oladipo/Harris/Gordon/Vučević

We might need to re-up this song!!!

So Frye is borderline starter, closer to 6th man. BENCH PLAYER CONFIRMED!

Orlando had no players in 141-160, meaning the press see the Magic as having 5 starter quality players. I suspect that most will be on the ow end (100-140), but still there is a clear view that the Magic has a great deal of talent.

Looking at the team-by-team rankings, the Celts and Spurs are projected to have great depth. The Mavs is a lot worse that they first appear. The Warriors, Clippers, and Rockets look to be awesome talent wise. The Pacers and Knicks look awful and the Sixers look worse. It is embarrassingly bad:

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
X. Nerlens Noel
X. Jahlil Okafor
202. Robert Covington
241. Nik Stauskas
243. Isaiah Canaan
262. Kendall Marshall
287. Jerami Grant
289. Tony Wroten
319. Carl Landry
331. Pierre Jackson
338. Hollis Thompson
374. JaKarr Sampson
377. Furkan Aldemir

The team only has two stater-quality players. AND lacks depth.

Espn thinks our entire starting 5 are top 130 players.

It's weird because even some guys 140-150 are merely 6th men. Perhaps they think not all 30 teams have 5 quality starters.

I'm very surprised they're so high on Aaron Gordon. I wish I could see last year's numbers, but those doofuses broke the page on their website.

Maybe, if you quit looking for ways to discount our players...

Less than 2 hour drive to me and closest pro sports teams to ESPN headquarters to me means ESPN is NY biased when ESPN has always favored NY sports. But, whatever . . .
