Possible All-Star game in Orlando 2017

Post#1 » by OrlMagic05 » Wed Apr 20, 2016 10:18 pm

Steve Bulpett: NBA hoping NC repeals controversial law. To move 2017 ASG, convention biz source says only possible cities this late are Orlando and Vegas. 2 days ago – via Twitter SteveBHoop

Would be pretty cool if the All-Star game came back to Orlando.

Wouldnt mind this, always a good thing for our team. No travel and we might get a few more of our guys in the contests.

I'd hate to host an all-star game and have no all-stars on the team.

This one for real. That would really suck.

As the two cities with the most hotel rooms, I agree that Orlando and Las Vegas could conceivably host this on short notice. For Orlando, the team might have travel obligations that would hurt the team. Vegas is an easy choice. It is neutral without favoring any given NBA team.

Taking the game away from Charlotte would be pretty ridiculous. It'll probably happen as they will do anything to bring forth their progressive agenda.

can't blame the nba for not wanting to get embroiled in a (likely overblown) political controversy during an election year.

i'd say this is less "progressive agenda" than it is "good business".

The key point here is that in the NBA, the Owners are the ones to make such decisions. Question: does anyone believe that 16 NBA owners would vote to take an All Star week away from Michael Jordan team ?

There was a rumor a couple years back about alternating between Orlando/Vegas and other teams. This scenario has an All Star week in Orlando every forth year.
