Hennigan is so damn bad at GMing. He's worse than Otis Smith by a long ways. I'm about to say the hockey dude in a minute.

Please tell us what you like about the Orlando Magic. EP is a cancer = zerp is a cancer.

yeah. also, i cant say that for sure as i'm not in the FO, but Henningan probably was forced to make the Tobias trade by Skiles. still, it was a bummer to sell low on him
It was a poorly executed trade. We have to call a spade a spade.
If Hennigan was in fact "forced to make the trade by Skiles" then is Hennigan the man for this job??
You don't sell off talent to make minutes for unproven prospects. They need to EARN the time.
Last year...Skiles = Martins, Martins = Skiles. Skiles + Martins = RDV.
Then if you are highly thought of Spurs Management guy, like Hennigan is, you respectfully disagree and maintain your position that making that move makes your team worse. Is he or is he not the General Manager? Is he or is he not an Ex-OKC/Spurs guy?

Oh yeah? So you'd rather sign Gilbert Arenas, Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson to $ 1 billion dollar contracts? Trade Hedo and then trade for him back?

It's a good price it make sense I hope last yr is team option but other then that I'm fine with it. What sf or pf do you all want? I hoping west I think he brings toughness and he nows how to win. Only thing that worries me is how we are gonna win close games not sure if we have solved that guess hope Fournier takes step forward he is only 23 other then that things looking up. If we make playoffs with young team and a liked coach I think we can finally sign superstars in 2017

Hennigan is definitely better than John Weisbrod. Also likely a shade better than Otis. Who could forget the trade to get Vince (ewww) and the deal to bring Hibachi here. Those two things are very, very bad. All Otis had to do was surround Dwight with Talent and he largely did not.

This isn't over-simplification but it is a false equivalency.
These moves are in no way related.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

Let's just say the people that are mad about what Hennigan is doing... make me feel even better about what he is doing. Thank you all for being you.

HOPEFULLY OUR LIFELONG QUEST FOR A BACKUP POINT GUARD IS FINALLY OVER!
We actually already have a backup point guard. Elfrid Payton.
We need a starting caliber PG that can shoot it so that we can run a PNR offense successfully.
Hopefully some trades are on the hopper.
My Ticket rep is calling me literally daily to extend and I am not going to do it unless we get something better on the perimeter at SG or SF. Hennigan has tripled down on Elfrid Payton so we obviously are not getting an actual PG.
didn't you say the same thing last year about not extending your tix?
You are correct. I have scaled back dramatically. I had seats behind the Magic bench for half season.
I declined full season because it's incredibly time consuming. This year I may go to 10 or 11 tops.
The guy is hounding me for 10 to 11 games. Total desperation mode. There is not much demand.
My neighbor has 4 tickets and 4 for his company in 105 and wants to dump all 8 after the VO trade. The product is not very good. Particularly if you want to entertain clients which was my original intent.

Re: Magic reach agreement with DJ Augustin
This is great! I'm here in Austin, TX and DJ Augustin played college here at UT.
This signing makes me happy.
DJ isn't a troublemaker. He's a good, young Man who should be a positive influence in the locker room and in practices.
And will be a good starter if Payton is ever injured.
Go Longhorns!
Go Magic!

2 years ago our major acquisitions were a broken-down Ben Gordon and an over-paid Channing Frye. Even if you hate Hennigan with all your heart, you have to at least admit we're moving up the NBA chain.

Nah I rather be in the multiple conference finals and the Finals like Otis Smith instead of not producing not one all star, having 4 straight losing seasons, and no playoff appearances. Keep thinking he's killing it though.Nemesis21 wrote:407Junkie wrote:Hennigan is so damn bad at GMing. He worse than Otis Smith by a long ways. I'm about to say the hockey dude in a minute.

Henni seems more like analytical. Otis seems more like eye test.
Still prefer Henni.

It's almost as if he had a MVP level Dwight Howard, funny how that works.

Re: Magic reach agreement with DJ Augustin
MAYBE, just MAYBE, Hennigan (not Skiles), let Harris and Frye go for capspace to take a risk by going for two max free agents this offseason.
Say it was Durant and Horford to add to our core of Dipo, Gordon, Payton, Mario.
Trade Vuc and maybe Elf plus fillers, for vet, Star SG/PG.
He didn't want to take back contracts just because Harris/Frye was an asset.
He wanted to gain more capspace, as he would need it and he had a plan.
He went for it.
Laid his cards on the table and the upper management liked it.
Harris and Frye were traded for capspace.
He was ready.
Then, as FA got closer, he got a tip or flat out was said to him, that Durant wasn't coming here, it was either OKC or Team X.
Master plan crumbling down, but that happens and teams prepare for it with plans B and C.
So on to plan B.
What do we have and what do we really need?
Stick with Vuc and add rim protection at 4/5.
What are we overloaded with, where's a logjam?
SG, it's either Dipo or Evan. Who's more efficient and reliable as a shooting guard?
Do we want to retain Fournier this year or let him go?
Do we want to max Dipo next year?
Evan Fournier has the stats to back up that he is our more reliable shooting guard at the moment.
So, lets trade Dipo, Ilyasova and #11 to OKC for Serge Ibaka
Fills needs for both teams
Get veteran SG who can shoot 3s to back up Evan: Jodie Meeks
Get veteran PG who can shoot 3s to back up Elf: DJ Augustin
Searching for valuable players to sign for max or near max, don't throw it out just to say "We gave out a max contract this summer"
Searching for vet backup PF/C
Story most likely developing.
Am I wrong?

Nice deal for the Magic. Hopefully the last year is a TO, but either way I'm happy with it.

Don't feed the troll. Clearly the two situations are completely different!!
