Youre leaving out Dwights and Jameers extensions. Not to mention whatever Hedo gets next year. We wouldnt be in a position to add a max player, we wouldnt have the cap space. We only had the window for a max free agent open for 1 season, and that window is now closed.
This is actually an inaccurate statement. As of right now, if the Magic could pull a JO for Lewis swap, the only Magic men who are currently signed through the summer of 2010 are Dwight & Jameer. Per Hoopshype, this would account for roughly $22 million dollars. Given a cap of $60 million for that summer (That would be an increase of $5 million in 2 years) That would leave $38 million available. A player with atleast 7 years in the league would command 30% of the cap as a first year salary. This would be $18 million, which would mean the Magic could have $20 million worth of salary in addition to Dwight & Jameer and still sign a max free-agent. If Hedo opted out of his contract and we signed him to a 5/$50 million dollar deal with 12.5% raises his salary would be $9 million that summer. The Magic could easily fill the remaining $11 million with players on their rookie contracts.
With that said, the odds that Larry Legend would trade JO for the worst long-term contract in the NBA is highly unlikely.

Besides that, the likelihood of any team going into a summer with only two players under contract for the next season is extremely unlikely.

so assuming Hedo signed for the amount you mentioned, we would have 4 players on the roster and 11million? You think thats enough to bring in a max free agent and fill out 10 more roster spaces?
