Magic to re-sign Foyle
I am sure that many here won't want to hear this, but Foyle is returning as that "big man" for the Magic.

I thought this was pretty much already decided last week...meh, he gives us some versatility, I dont mind it...as long as he's not going to be upset playing 3rd stringer to Gortat...

Re: Magic gets needed big man
I dont get Foyle. He openly pouted because he lost his playing time in the playoffs to Gortat. Then opted out because he wanted to play more. But now we got more big man depth with Battie returning and Gortat getting a bigger role so that will mean no playing time at all for Foyle. So now he returns? I dont mind him being back on the team as a 3rd stringer but he better not bitch about playing time again....

I think now with MP signing, who is a good friend of his, him still being close to the islands, and no one else really wanting him, this is THE place for him for now...

Re: Magic to re-sign Foyle
I think a lot of people can't quite fully understand what he brings to the team....much in the same way that Tony Battie is undervalued by many on the board. I like Foyle more than any other FA options available to us...and he is a good personality in the locker room, and a big body that will work the other bigs hard in practice...it's a good pickup to bring him back. Now let's just get Crittenton and call it an offseason...with upgrades to the backcourt and a solidified front court....let's go get it.

Re: Magic gets needed big man
I don't mind too much. He's a big body, and even though he is offensively deficient, he can still rebound and block a few shots - 13 reb per 48 minutes (3rd on the team last year), 2.79 blocks per 48 (1st last year).
He's not going to see much floor time behind Dwight, Battie and Gortat. And he is a great influence to have around young guys, as are Anthony Johnson and Tony Battie.
I do think we need to get a better contributing big man if possible, but given that we seem to be focusing on upgrading our perimeter, I would assume we are going to stick with small-ball for much of next season, meaning that we don't need to fill many C or PF minutes behind Dwight and Rashard.

Re: Magic to re-sign Foyle
there we go.
our frontcourt is there.
and with the exception of the Critt trade, our backcourt will be set too.
way to get things rolling Otis !...

Simple, Foyle had an inflated opinion about his abilities. Got pissed after Gortat out played him got pissed and opted out thinking the other 31 teams will come running. As he sat around with nothing happening, he thought hey 1.2 on the bench is better than zero on the couch.

Re: Magic to re-sign Foyle
Nice game of Chess Otis is playing. The AJ move is definately to offset any posturing from Memphis, when Dooling didnt bite and to be honest he should have. I think you get a player for what you can get him for and the market dictates that. Sometimes you have to overpay....Sometimes you can get away with underpaying. We could walk into next season with the team we have right now. Wouldnt be the best balanced squad, but our bench would be seriously deep. I think we can make the ECF with what we have. To quote Otis..I like this team.
out of difficulty comes opportunity.

Re: Magic to re-sign Foyle
Foyle coming back isn't that bad. I would have liked to get Doleac. The guy has a jumper, but Foyle is the better shot blocker. Since the BAE went to AJ, this was a logical choice. Another good, solid move Otis. Starting to rack them up my man.
