apparently it is comin back.. from the wiki

Professional SlamBall games were aired on television by Spike TV for two seasons in 2002 - 2003. According to the SlamBall official website, SlamBall will return in August 2008. The league accepted applications through its website for new players and coaches, and tryouts were held in three U.S. cities in April, 2008.

Here is my question. Given his natural athletic ability already, what would Dwight Howard do in Slamball? Especially if they have a SLam dunk contest?
Reporter - How do you feel about your first triple double?

Bo Outlaw - What is that some kind of cheeseburger?

does anyone remember when when they had the "tryouts" and the one guy came down badly and nearly severed his foot from the ankle down? I think they showed all the greusome details... it made me never want to try dunking with a trampoline again.

Dwight Howard would be a dominant stopper. I cant see anyway someone could ever get around him. Hell you could make Dwight a gunner an hed simply level the guys in his way an like before I cant think of anyone who could stop him if he was goin for a throw down. So to answer your question he would be unstoppable, literally.

I only saw it a couple of times and I loved it. it was so exciting and freakish. The players looked like they were about to jump out of the court and into the seats. I would have loved to try it.

You know what's sad - Slamball used to get way more coverage than the NBA in Britain, when it was running. It was aired on a channel called 'Trouble', and we used to get a few games and highlight shows per week, whereas the NBA, at the time, typically got two games (one of which was on tape delay) and a half hour highlight show per week.

One of the writers at Dime Magazine actually tried out and got pretty far as well.

I loved Slamball but yeah, Mitchell, I'm glad I'm not the only Brit fed up with the pitiful coverage of basketball in the UK.

That's one reason I am soooooo glad to be in Toronto for the next two years! First week I was out here was during the playoffs, and I completely OD'd on the coverage, watching 2 or 3 games per day. My wife was not impressed.

Hopefully by the time we head back across the pond some sort of better deal will have been made, and more games will be available. I read somewhere that the European rights change or are up for bids after the coming season - hopefully NASN gets the basketball coverage and we will get at least a few games per week. Either that or I go back to watching pirated streams on the net!

Slamball? Yawn. Are we that bored during the summer that we think Slamball is exciting?

It's boring as heck to watch, but probably really fun to play.

Is Slamball still Mark Cuban's baby or does it belong to someone else now?

they need to modify it somewhat cause it can defintely get too repetitive.
