Can Lee play the PG??

Post#1 » by christian72589 » Mon Aug 11, 2008 1:59 am

I haven't seen C Lee play yet, but i was wondering.... If we wanted JC so bad, and he is about 6"5... Lee is about 6"5, which would be incredible size at the PG spot. I know i have heard he plays some lock down D, so how bout it guys? Could we, should we, would we try to develop C Lee as a PG? ( i didn't mean to rhyme like that) Not only would this technically thin out or SG position, but in turn would bolster our backcourt significantly if it worked out... thoughts?

Well as long as some one like Hedo is there to ease the pressure of point duties, I don't see why it's not worth a shot.

The Magic still need to clear the logjam at SG.

I think he can play PG for spurts, but I dont think we should try to develope or turn him into a PG. I just think he will be much better off at SG, but for sure he could play some spot minutes at the 1.

Lee has enough skills to help out in trap situations: push the ball forward and provide an outlet to get the ball across mid-court. But it's not like he's a combo guard. It's also not like a rookie can avoid TOs.

Short term, Lee will play null PG.

Both Otis and SVG said in the press conference that he has some of the skills of a PG and could definatly help out there and may well see time there.

So I do see it happening; not for very long in any given game [I cant see it being a regular fixture] but I see him there helping out.

Possibly but I need to see him play NBA games before I can give a yes or no answer. He has a lot of talent but I still see him as a question mark b/c we really have no idea what he is going to do this season.

see the reason I was thinking this is that maybe this is why we drafted him and also signed MP... just a thought although i guess it could have been that we didnt want to start Kebo again at the SG spot and we weren't ready to start a rookie. ( or poor redick) I know we were trying to get JC but i think that we either aren't really going to just jump at anything outside of what we wanted with JC (which is good) or will try CLee at the PG

We"ve tried the SG to big PG too many times. We signed Pietrus to start and that's what he'll do. We drafted Lee at 22 overall. You're hoping for a rotation player at that point. Let's let Lee be that before we try to make him change positions.

Otis did it before. Took JJ in the lottery then signed Keith Bogans. Then they moved Grant Hill to SG. We may see something similar this year. Draft Lee. Pick up MP. SVG talking about experimenting with Hedo at SG.

The thing is anyone on this roster that can dribble the ball has more PG skills than most of the team. In reality it seems like Lee efforts to be a PG in college didn't go very well so I have to wonder what makes us think he be better in the NBA. He can dribble a basketball but that doesn't make him a PG. Can he be someone that can bring it up sometimes no question he probably can. Is he someone you expect to run the offense and set up teammates. Nothing he has done suggest he that kind of play maker.

bear in mind that we already have a SG who can also play PG in redick, and he isn't going anywhere.

Courtney Lee played PG for a full season at Western Kentucky...I think it was his junior year.
