One reason Howard's game is developing is because of Lewis. Lewis allows Howard to spread the floor. An interior, banger (such as the wide range of suggestions of Turkoglu-for-X trade ideas) will limit Howard.

So, does Lewis' contract kill the Magic? No.

There is a reason that all five Magic starters are in the 13+ ppg range. That reason is that the Magic had resources to find compatible players.

It will/is/will potentially kill the Magic because they won't have the cap room to full out their bench with players that would be able to help out on the court. Instead, the team will just have low-level skill and pay players because they can't afford anything else.

Most Magicians are locked to at least medium term deals. And the Magic have tradeable assets to improve their bench. The only issue for next year will be whether the Magic decide to go over the LUX tax to retain Turkoglu. If not, the Hedo would be traded to provide the asets you request above.

And what assets are those? JJ Redick? Cook? Adonal Foyle? Athony Johnson? Please, the Magic bench is on the line of terrible to awful. And why would any team be okay with a sign and trade for Hedo when they can just sign him outright? It would be a different story if the Magic could match whatever offers he gets, but if they don't go into lux tax zone, like you suggested, then the team has zero leverage. That all depends on if you meant Hedo, if he was traded, was traded before the deadline, that is (meaning I misinterpreted what you meant).

Anthony Johnson cannot be traded, without another PG in return. The Magic are to thin at PG. At SG, any of Lee/Redick/Bogans could be had (for the right price). Any of Cook/Foyle/Gortat could be easily had.

But you point out: what is the upgrade???

This is why the Magic are unlikely to make a trade until January, at the soonest.

Maybe we can just agree to disagree, as our opinions lead to the same result: no trade.

Agreed. Different reasons, same result.
