Hedo out with the flu!!

Post#1 » by BassMaster » Sat Nov 22, 2008 11:14 pm

This might explain why he played so poorly against the Pacers last night.

Hopefully it's a one time deal, and we're getting it out of the way now.

We really need him tonight though.

Hopefully he gets better.

I think Battie should be in the SL instead of Bogans.

there is just too many jokes that can go on with this. Turkoflu getting the flu???? anyways hopefully he gets better really quickly and is back soon enough. Although maybe we trade Hedo and Cook for Luis Scola and Shane Battier at the game tonight? (not happening but would be nice)

I'm betting that Pietrus is going to slide to sf and JJ or Bogans will start at the two. I'd rather see Battie get the start though.

Could just be a normal flu like anybody else gets.

*Doesn't know who he's trying to convince. Other people, or himself.*
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

All you had to say was "Hedo out". We'd already know why.

Sorry not everyone knew. And since Hedo two years ago if you remember had the flu how often. Though as far as I have heard you can only catch the flu once, but Hedo is different.

You've heard wrong. Influenza is a virus that mutates rapidly, so there are constantly new strains emerging to which we are not resistant. That is why you have to get a flu shot yearly, because not only does your immunity from the prior year's shot wane, but new strains show up each year. So anyone can basically get flu twice a year every year for the rest of their lives.

True, you can get the flu multiple times because it does mutate so much, but you don't have to get the flu shot imo. Like you said, the virus mutates rapidly, so the flu shot only covers a selected few strains anyway. But the main reason to not get the shot is, because it gives you the flu, lol, as well as man made preservatives. If you have a normal, fully functioning immune system, its best to just gain your resistance by regular exposure with the virus. If you keep a strong resistance, you don't have to worry about creating antigens to combat the virus more effectively. Now if your elderly and have a hampered immune system, that's a different story. I'm also a firm believer of not giving it to kids btw. Hedo sounds like he's got some sort of retrovirus or an immune system problem. The body should be growing strong enough to protect against repeated exposures even if it is a different strain. These are professional athletes with a fine tuned regimen, not sickly people.

I hope it's not the same crap as 2 years ago.

I have been wondering about that as well. We can only hope that this is the real thing this time.
