OT: Marbury possibly to the Celtics??

Post#1 » by glennathan » Fri Jan 2, 2009 4:10 pm

If this happens I think one of 2 things will happen.

A) Celtics make Murbury realize what he has with that team and then he agrees to come off the bench and help this team out.

B) Celtcs sign marbury to a multi year deal and he will not play unless he starts inevtiably causing a breakdown in the chemistry, celtics go to playoffs and lose to either the Cavs or Magic in ECF.

anyone else got any other ideas what might happen?

here is the link I found.

C) Marbury gets signed dirt cheap and proves D'Antoni wrong playing like he used to (sometimes) in Minnesota with KG back in the days. Boston wins another title and becomes sports' most hated team EVAR.

This is one of those things that I could possibly see working for a year. Marbury is nuts, but they've got some strong personalities there to keep him in check. Although I wasn't sure that the KG/Marbury relationship was any good at this point, I wonder what the dynamic there would be? Especially since Stephon seems a great deal more volatile now than he did in Minnesota.

Secret option F: He brings KG's inner child out even more, both go postal on a ref.

Marbury is banned from America, 4 million dollar fine each day for a year and forced to change his name to "Spanner Mc Flurry".

KG recieves a 30 second ban, which he can serve at any time during a game.

Pierce fakes a hernia mid game, comes back 2 mins later after he's been to the loo and every one falls over themselves to tell us how much heart they have.

Sorry what was the question again?

chemistry is overrated.

All you've got to do is play well with each other on the court, its great if they like each other if not oh well.

This won't hurt the Celtics. They have to many good players to allow Marbury to get out of line. He probably wouldn't play much, if at all, and if he started acting up they would just release him. I still hate the Celtics.

they will most deff sign him for the min. in that case if he does mess up or get players annoyed then they can just cut him. i predict he will be in a celtics uniform for bout 3 weeks.

I think it would be a good pickup for them. As it is, they have almost zero of a bench and no playmaker within the second unit. Their bench is missing Posey a lot, and picking up Marbury would help it. As for chemistry, I think between the Big Three that Marbury will be kept in check, and if not, then they just release him.

Gutsy move... I don't think anyone denies Marbury has talent, he's just been horrible at utilising it, particularly as of late. If he's able to accept a smaller role with the Celtics and Doc Rivers can somehow get him to play under control, he can be a terrific addition for them. However, there's still the chance he'll turn Boston into a media circus in a similar way he did with the Knicks, which obviously would be horrible for Boston's team chemistry and such. We'll see what happens.

This probably works out great for the Celts if it were to happen.
