eh, now I am not as excited to watch it. I thought they would have done 3 superstars (kobe, dwade, james). Oh well it should still be somewhat entertaining.

I first heard a few weeks back it was two contests, D-Wade Vs. Ben Gordon (WTF?) and Dirk Vs. KG.

I think Mayo will have this one but D-Wade and Kobe would have been great addition to this. Maybe even like a tag-team H-O-R-S-E comp like those two Vs. Mayo and Derrick Rose or something?

I'm sure they asked those guys, like they used to ask them every year for the Dunk contest...

They would have turned it down because they would have more to lose (rep) than gain (piddly prize money)...

I always wanted to see a dunk contest between T-Mac, Kobe, J-Rich and Carter when they were all in their primes, but the only way to make it happen would have been $$$$$

Earl Monroe vs Magic Johnson
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

It's gonna be interesting to see how this works out.

I am curious to see how they'll make this entertaining. Those guys don't seem very charismatic. I think if there was a guy like Sheed or Gilbert, this would be worth watching, but Durant? Mayo? They are so quiet! It'll be like "ummm... bank shot" :shot goes in: "nice. your turn." :shot goes in: "sweet. OK, backwards."

Not exactly stellar TV.

Though it would be interesting to know who the best trick shot artist is in the NBA.

As FUNNY as that was, it is so very true.

i think this bit has the potential to be a really entertaining component of the ASW. depends how they do it, and how far the contestants push it. Durant could use his hops to pull off dunks that the other guys can't match. but JJ and Mayo have the outside shot that they can use to their advantage.

are amazing layups allowed? we might be able to see a 540 or maybe even a 720 layup or something if so....

what's to stop them from basically performing extreme dunks, without actually dunking it?

Yeah not sure... back in the day when we played horse and they said no dunking i used to just hit a high spot on the backboard after releasing the ball... which many others couldn't match lol...

So eventually it went to a 'no layup' rule as well... so it may have that...

lame.....

i don't know about hitting high points on the backboard, but layups are a must. that's what'll keep it interesting, and really ignite the one up manship.

WTF the NBA is stupid, i don't understand how the NBA can force a bunch of rich guys(you guys mentioned money) to dress nice but can't force them to play basketball. what i really mean is how can stern have so much power as to say what they can and can't wear(or who will be in the finals LOL) yet can't get them(great players) to do something that actually matters like be participants in the all-star game stuff like dunk contest or horse??? it should just come with the job. thats another reason america isnt so much into the NBA the super all-stars never do anything.
