I doubt that Marion is a scrub. I think he'll do better in Toronto next to Bosh and with Calderon and Parker.

i'm with you on that one. i actually think this could be enough for Toronto to squeak out a playoff birth. they're not "too far" out of the picture to challenge Milwaukee, Chicago, Indy, NY, NJ and the others.

this makes Toronto look like a poor man's version of the old Phoenix team.

Amare/Bargs
Diaw/Bosh
Marion/Marion
Bell/Parker
Nash/Calderon

there's a big difference in quality of players, but still.... they could pull that team together. especially with Bargs finding form finally.

The victor of the deal is dependent on how long JO can stay on the court.

+1
improves them for this year and sets them up nicely for 2010. Toronto must have been real desperate.

Good move for both teams, it makes sense for both of them. Miami needed another big man, preferably a center, to move Haslem back to the four and Beasley to the three. And considering the health of JO, Miami got a very nice backup with Moon. When he comes in, then Beasley can slide to the pf spot. He's better suited at sf anyway. Man, doesn't that scenario sound familiar, lol. Toronto was misfit as well with Bargs coming into his own. They didn't need JO. Now Bargs can solidify the starting center spot with a frontcourt of Bosh and Marion, not bad at all. And referring to Riley not being able to get Amare, it was all based on the Suns not wanting to take back Marion and/or the Blazers and Griz not wanting to mortgage their current future. It wasn't because he didn't want him. I think he would have let Beasley go if they would have taken Marion.

Heat would have knocked us out of the first round before this trade, haha. But lol @ anyone saying Toronto got the better end of this deal. Please.

Miami was able to get rid of arguably the worst contract on their team (Banks) and they receive a guy with loads of talent and potential (Moon) that gives them a good bit more depth down the line while also freeing up a crapload of capspace in 2010.

PG: Chalmers
SG: Wade
SF: Beasley
PF: Haslem
C: Amare

That'd be pretty sick, but regardless, great move by Miami.

if you think Toronto are walking away with a turd in a brown paper bag, then you're sorely mistaken. Miami win the deal, but Toronto got good out of it as well. It's actually quite a good deal for both teams, IMO.

Not unless the Magic fall to the fourth or fifth seed.

The turd in the paper bag is banks and his contract that runs through 2011

that's still only 19mil in guaranteed contracts on 2010. they can still afford to bring in 2 max contracts, depending on how they handle the whole Marion thing this offseason.

Marion will be a good fit with Bosh; Toronto just got a lot better.

I don't think so, J.O. looked a lot better than his numbers and if the injuries are behind him, he'll add a lot to Miami since opponents will have to worry about D-Whistle :P

Toronto has no real superstar, someone who'a always ready to drop 30, they have a bunch of good players (Bosh can be one but he lacks attitude and leadership) they'll need to start playing and defending as team, otherwise this will be the final nail in the coffin for this season.
