Rebounding has improved

Post#1 » by Last Guardian » Mon Feb 23, 2009 3:33 pm

I was taking a look at team stats and noticed the the Magic have dramatically improved their rebounding #'s. It wasn't long ago where on average we were being outrebounded for the season but now we have a +1.4 differential which is top 10 in the league. And our 43.32rpg is 3rd in the league. I think an underrated part of this team is Gortat + Battie. They don't play many minutes but they hit the glass pretty hard (Gortat is even one of the leaders in rebounding per minute).

I thought rebounding would be our biggest concern going into the playoffs but if we continue to improve in this and maybe even sign another big man, I'll be very confident in the postseason.

I have notice that too, but not only Gortat and Battie, but the others are stepping up, Hedo, Lewis, and even JJ are doing there parts

Rebounding helps possessions opportunities. Helps FG%. Helps earned FT attempts.

Besides FG% differential, my second favorite stat is rebounding differential.

i'm more partial to offensive and defensive rebounding %.

right now, we're 24th and 3rd in those respective categories; only boston and san antonio do a better job on the defensive glass than we do.

It helps when you box out the other team.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

It also helps when you have quicker reaction times.
