Dwight Howard suspended for game 6

Post#3 » by MagicBasketba11 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:45 pm

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has been suspended one game without pay for elbowing Philadelphia 76ers center Samuel Dalembert in the head, it was announced Wednesday by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 9:15 remaining in the first period of Orlando's 91-78 victory over the 76ers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Amway Arena last night.

Howard will serve his suspension tomorrow night when the Magic faces the 76ers in Game 6 at Wachovia Center.

I hope Gortat shows the 76ers the GOROTAT!!

Here they thought that Dwight was playing well.. Just wait till GOROTAT busts out the pain on Theo Ratliff and Dalembert.

On a serious note, 76ers Coach Tony DiLeo is a complete bum. I hope the Magic destroy the 76ers tomorrow.

Prediction

Magic 103
Philly 95

How many times have you seen a team get fired up over things like this plus Philly's coach is a whiny vagina and this will be the ultimate STFU. I mean, what will he have to bitch about?

Bring on the Celtics!!!!!!!!!!

Philly has no chance anyway. Humiliation galore.

gay.. oh well, hopefully other guys step up. If they played like game 1-4, then Philly will win this game by 40 points.

EXACTLY. Now, we have zero pressure in Philly. They have all the pressure. They'll probably be favored by close to 10 points.

We, on the other hand, have no pressure. We're pretty much counting on the game 7 already. Ironically, I've seen many times in the NBA where the team with no pressure plays so freely that they end up outplaying the 'better' team. (Anyone remember when we played the Pacers after the brawl? they had like 6 players on the roster and almost beat us)
My 2 favorite NBA teams:

1) Orlando Magic
2) Whoever is playing the Celtics

Now hopefully Rondo gets suspended since you can argue that his action was worse than Dwight's...

Great.

The league seriously needs it's head checked and maybe an elbow to the face for this. Brad miller can flat out show someone but this gets the punishment?!? Rondo draws blood... Nothing happens... Dwight Turns quick after getting two hand shoved for four feet with no foul... Suspended.

If anyone happens to run into Chris Webber or Charles Barkley, please spit it their eyes. All the better if you can literally run into them. Hyping this non-event into a suspension.

I know some people think this might fire the Magic up and get them to come out and play with a purpose--and it could happen--but I feel nervous about game 6, and a potential game 7, now. If Philly wins game 6 against an extremely short-handed Orlando team, then all they need is one flukey game 7 where they shoot lights out to pull off a huge upset.

It's complete trash that the league would allow so many other, harder fouls to go by unnoticed, and then bench Orlando's best player in a crucial elimination game. Ridiculous.

Whatever...

I agree. If they let Rondo and Miller off then this is bs. And after they DIDN'T suspend Garnett last year this shows the bias in the league.

On the other, we knew this was coming. Not the suspension, but the fcat that eventually Dwight would lose his cool from getting hacked all series long. another HUGE reason we need a real PF. If we had a PF out there, Dalembert and Ratliff would think twice about banging up Dwight cause they'd get a tatse of their own medicne. See Ewing and Oakley. Guys would never try that stuff on Ewing because they knew Oakley was there watching his back.

Oh well, at least the pressure is on the Sixers now to win at home.

Yep I think we win this game. We've won without Dwight before.

Leaving Rondo out of this for a minute, I'm reluctantly glad the NBA suspended Howard. Fans around the league were ready to rip Howard and the Magic apart if the NBA gave him the so-called 'superstar treatment'.

I know myself and most people here would be going crazy if this happened with LeBron, Kobe, or Wade and the NBA didn't suspend the player.

But yes, this really sucks. Howard and Lee are out, but like some of you mentioned, this puts less pressure on the Magic. And also, remember when the Magic used to play worse against teams that were missing key players? Well according to what I've read on the Sixers board, Philly currently does this as well.....
