Preparing for round 2...

Post#1 » by jonskilly » Fri May 1, 2009 5:20 am

I live in NJ and was able to catch game 4 in Philly. Now that the Magic are in the second round, I'm trying to prepare a small trip. If Boston wins the series, Orlando will be at home (I'm guessing on Saturday). I found a roundtrip ticket to ORL for $200... about how far is the arena from the airport? Any suggestions on a good value hotel for one night? I can only afford to take a minitrip over the weekend so if Boston doesn't win... I'll be trying to book a flight out to Chi-town!

Arena is about 15-20 mins from airport, depends on how you are getting there ie. cab, renting a car. go on hotels.com for hotel

Airport is about 20...25 mins depending on trf(15 if i'm driving lol). Just take the Bee-Line to the Turnpike to I-4, or you can take the 417 to the East-West.

I'm sure you can find a good deal on Expedia or Hotels.com

I believe tickets go on sale either sat(or sun) .. . .not sure. But if we end up playing the C's I would recommend buying them as soon as possible from ticketmaster. Scaplers are going to be charging 2/3x the face value of the tix. Especially lower bowl seats.

It also depends on traffic. 15-20 min is the absolute fastest any human being could get there by any means of transportation yet to be discovered. Orlando is a b!t<h to navigate through. There is no good way to get anywhere from the hours of 7:25 AM - 9:20 AM + 3:45 PM - 6:40 PM.

Assuming you are staying at a hotel near the airport and a game would start at 7:30 PM...and you are coming from out of state, so you would likely want to get there before the doors even open....

Game Starts: 7:30 PM
Doors Open: 6:00 PM (I believe they open 1:30 min early for playoff games - regular season is 1:00)
Pre-game Festivities: 5:00 PM
Leave Hotel: 4:15 PM
Pre-Pre-Game Cordials: 12 PM - 4:14 PM

That equates to a successful road trip.

I want Chicago to win, not because I'm afraid of Boston but because I want home court, Without KG i fully believe we can beat Boston. Chicago is a dangerous team because of Rose and Gordon

After the way the guys rose up late in the sixers series I think we can get to the conference finals and we have played the Cavs well this year
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Compared to most cities in the world, Orlando is a total breeze. It is mostly a grid system, except around lakes. And traffic jams are not catastrophic.

To me the only thing is the geographical distance of the greater Orlando area. One can have an hour and a half car ride simply because two things are 60 miles apart :(

So just to make sure you want to catch a game 4 vs either chicago or boston????? Then you make sense, otherwise, its the othe way around and boston has HC, and chicago doesn't But I bet I'm reading this wrong............Go Magic haha!

When is game 1? Maybe it depends on which team wins games 7: Chi-town or Bean-town.

airport is 18 minute from the arena door to door. you probably want to priceline or hotwire your hotel/car.

How much are lower bowl tickets? I got my sixers/magic tickets for face value on lower level, 3rd row. $80. is that around the same price?

Mostly because of the officiating... I think the loudest the arena got was during the "REFS YOU SUCK" chants...

If Boston ends up winning tomorrow, how do you guys think the series will scheduled?

Game 1 @ BOS Tues
Game 2 @ BOS Thurs
Game 3 @ ORL Sat
Game 4 @ ORL Mon

Sound about right? Trying to figure out which home game I would buy since we won't have the schedule until after tickets are on sale already.
