OT: Attack on Dutch royal family

Post#1 » by MagicHolland » Fri May 1, 2009 7:21 pm

I'm still quite in shock as this has happened in my hometown. On May 30th we celebrate Queens Day here in Holland which is filled with many activities and a lot of partying. I'm not sure if this news has been covered very much outside of the Netherlands but it has been weird. So far 7 people were killed.

Gladly I heard about it just before I was to head to the place where the accident happened because I've seen some footage in the form of film and video that I'm glad I haven't had to witness in real life. Amazing stuff.

Saw this in the news ... sad.

The driver died as well.

Have they determined any motive yet?

Yeah it's too bad he died, I really would've liked to hear his motive.. I suspect it's been a result of him being fed up with some laws that really worked against him. He was fired from his job (lately it's been made much easier for companies to just fire employees) and I heard he went through a divorce and the judge told him to stay away from his kids. This is just speculation though..

A friend of mine knew 2 of the victoms and was devastated last night. It sucks. A little 7 year old girl lost both her legs and another victom lost both his legs and his arms. Can't imagine the impact it has on themselves and their close ones..

That's crazy and very sad to hear. I can't stand people behind attacks like this, I hope the attackers pay for this

Where did this happen, the Hague? I was just there in March at the palace. Sad news, there are crazed people everywhere.

What's up with all these royal families still in power in Europe. This is 21st century come on! Everyday, there are accidents, deaths, murders... World is not Monaco...

I was sipping some water and aspirin trying to get my Queensnight hangover to go away while preparing to go out to check out the festivities in the city on thursday when I saw what happened on the news. I was so disgusted I didn't care about the festivities any more, and couldn't even watch the news that long after seeing the same news pop up on every TV channel at some point. Blegh, I hate it how 1 idiot can mess up so big that an entire country (if not more) has to suffer...
