Too bad. He seems very likable person.

I wonder if Stern made it happen somehow .... j/k (I think).

Agreed, they're definitely the UNC of the NBA right now.

Sure, Denver looks good but they're playing pretty poor teams (ala Cleveland).

The Lakers will likely have tough opponents in DEN and whoever comes out of the east. A healthy Rockets series would've legitimated their run to me if they do it, like UNC, if they win I'll just attribute a decent amount of it to convenient matchups. At least in the NBA we don't have fluke 1-and-done series though.

The Lakers would've beat the Rockets with Yao btw. That first win of theirs was a fluke.

Big blow for the Rox. They can't catch a break for nothing. At least they get to say they made it to the second round of the playoffs. Otherwise, the Lakers got handed a gift. 4-1 in the Lakeshow favor.

Yes most likely Lakers would of won even with Yao in the game, but its just going to be cruise mode now for 4 wins.

Denver will give them a challenge but I still see them strolling to the NBA Finals again this year...hopefully against the Magic !

that's a shame.

if you're a Rockets fan, you've gotta start to question if Yao is worth it, or, if you can get someone else should you consider it? (ie, Amare/Bosh/etc) that's 2 seasons in a row he's had foot issues, and despite this season's decent performance I don't see him carrying that team all the way.

Sorry to the Rockets, unlike losing T-mac, this will hurt them. Going to be starting a 6-6 guy at center, ouch. Prepare to get worked dude. Yao just too tall and big, Oden will have similar problems. Not looking forward to seeing Mr. Billups in the finals though :-?

That's a real stinger considering Mutombo is out as well. I still don't think the Rockets will roll over and die for the Lakers. Sure the Lake Show win the series and were expected to do so regardless; The Rockets still have a good team. The Lakers are much like our Magic; a great team that often plays down to the level of their competition which makes them vulnerable for another possible loss in this series.
Yao is a good dude, but he can't stay healthy for nothing. It's like Houston is right there (being legitimate contenders) and then you remember that they have T-Mac and Yao for their leaders, neither of which can play an entire season healthy. This blows for Rocket fans!!!

Agreed! Or at least up until the Yao injury. Yao is the only player in the NBA that D12 doesn't know how to play well. But without Yao in the lineup the Magic would be odds on favorites to win the title in that matchup.

Rockets are handling the 1st half of life without Yao pretty well today.
