why wasnt i able to find out? because he didnt tell me. I would never ever complain about not hearing everything. I dont bite the hand that feeds me.

Anyway....Spent 5 minutes on phone tonight.

Hawes is projected as the starter at center. Can he lose that job in camp? sure.....but Brand is gonna play PF and Hawes at center..thats the plan..Brand may get some minutes at center when they go small and depending on matchups

The deal was a "no brainer" due to:
1)Luxury Tax implications
2)Dalembert had become a locker room issue and they thought this was good value to let him go now instead of end of year.
3)Sacramento was the only team willing to pay his trade kicker and came at us aggressively about this.

Collins loves Hawes (compared him to a young Brad Miller) and thinks Nocioni is very useable. He is a scrapper. Stefanski was concerned about nocionis contract and Collins told him he will be worth it. He thinks both will earn regular playing time. They felt the young center they got here was better than any they could have gotten in the draft(cousins or favors wasnt an option after getting turner)

Now that we got another SF...carney wont be back.

Thad could still go for Aldrich..otherwise they may just try and get a guy in 2nd round like Jordan or trade Kapono for a vet center.

Toronto deal wont happen because Jarrett Jack wants to start and he wont here. Plus with Meeks and Nocioni and for now Kapono..we have enough shooters.(dont need belinelli)

Indy deal for Foster still may happen(perhaps for Kapono). dont know about the #10 pick.

chances are slightly less than thad gets moved based off getting their center of the future without him.....but they definitely would move him for aldrich.

Final question I asked was the tayshaun prince offer true......he said yes but it wasnt close. Not giving up the 2 pick without a stud (overwhelming offer that they dont plan on receiving). They didnt want villanueva either.

Thats all for now....its 100 percent turner but they will do their due diligence with cousins, favors and wes johnson in next few days.

Got the feeling Aldrich,Alabi and Jerome Jordan were still very much targets.

X3. We don't HAVE to trade Thad for Aldrich. Aldrich's draft has dropped like I expected it to because of his limited upside. We can easily trade Kapono+Lou to some team for their pick.

i could see Nocioni as Doug Collins' type of player because he's a fan favorite when he doesn't whine and b*tch about playing time. He's scrappy and he hits big threes.

So let's say Kapono gets dealed for Jeff Foster (Jim O'Brien loves his 3-pt-shooters right??) and Evan Turner is our pick at #2, our roster would look like this (just a recap)

PG: J. Holiday / L. Williams
SG: E. Turner / J. Meeks
SF: A. Iguodala / T. Young / A. Nocioni
PF: E. Brand / M. Speights
C : S. Hawes / J. Foster / J. Smith

There's still that logjam at the wing positions. This could be alleviated a little bit by dealing Lou for a young big (anybody think he's worth a low 1st rounder? We could get Jerome James or Alabi for him?) and moving Turner to the point when Holiday sits, splitting ballhandling duties with Iguodala.

Thanks SF for the clarification on why the Sixers made this deal. It seems they really feel like Spencer Hawes has good upside, which would be the only reason why the deal would make any sense in the first place.

Spencer Hawes reminds me of Tim Duncan.

It sounds like other than the luxury tax implications, this deal was mostly Collins' doing from what SF said. It seems a lot of the trade was about putting Collins' stamp on the team.

Looking at it, Noc' will make about as much as Dalemberts would have for the life of his contract, just spread out over two years instead of one. The only extra salary is Hawes.

I'd still like to see them pick up a young defensive C prospect as Hawes and Smith at C is just an invitation for people to drive down the lane at will. Aldritch or a late first rounder/early second rounder is fine with me.

Don't sell Hawes short. I think Tim Duncan with the dominance of Shaq and the touch of Wilt.

Thanks SF76.

I don't know if this was already asked, but does this trade mean Iggy could be traded. The Dalembert trade seems a little like a rebuilding move. Would they try to trade Iggy for a pick in the 4-6 range.

Thanks SF,

I think it's safe to say that Iggy is safe. It's been reiterated many times.

SF76- Thank you so very much for the willingness to spend so much time for us. Your thoughts and insight has kept me a season ticket holder another year. As long as your are correct and Turner is our draft pick, I could not be happier right now. Your last posting was just awesome, thank you again!!!!!!

If only Jason Smith was as good at basketball as he is at kissing. That's right... I said kissing.
