They can't do that as a big-time paper. It's unprofessional and bush league. They flat out said "Sources have confirmed/told the Daily News that Thaddeus Young will be going to the Sixers"

Sam Hinkie got robbed in this deal. Couldn't even squeeze out Shabazz. 5 months ago my confidence in Hinkie was a 10/10. Since has dropped to a 7. Have not really liked a lot of the things he has done. He's done absolutely nothing with his cap room when he had ample opportunities to do so, and what is a pick in the mid teens to the early 20's in this upcoming lesser draft gonna get us? Another mediocre role player?

Sam Hinkie got bent over and Flip owned him, I hate to say it. Minnesota made out like bandits. Pretty much got everything they wanted out of both trades. Showing young buck Sam how it's done.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually like Alexey Shved. I saw him play in one of the international tournaments a couple years back and he showed some good skills. He's shown some flashes with the T-Wolves too, but of course, he's been really inefficient overall so maybe it just doesn't translate at this level. Maybe that inefficiency makes his attractive to the team...

We were already the worst team, and honestly, I'm not even sure getting the #1 overall pick is the best thing for the Sixers this upcoming draft, because it will likely be Okafor. I'd take him if we had to at #1, but that would create a mess.

Now we will win about 12 games at most. Minnesota has a hard-on for Thad, and Hinkie let the Wolves dictate terms.

This is tank overkill, and they might change the odds anyway.

Bad deal on our part. I'm not sure what Hinkie is actually doing at this point. All this cap space, but nobody actually wants to play for us, drafting guys that can't play this year, and maybe never will. Not sure how much worse the team can actually get at this point.

Hawes was only worth two second round picks last year. A late first was likely the best the Sixers could get for Thad. People always act like the team failed in a trade because they didn't ask for more. The other team needs to be willing to give up what you want. Not every trade or move is going to be the Jrue trade.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

The Twolves came to the 6'ers and pursued Thad. When the other team wants your guy, you gotta come away with more than cap space and a throw away pick that you could probably buy for a few million. He got bent over this deal. This trade and how we supposedly had a deal in place for Lin that fell apart are really starting to take the shine off Hinkie.

There's also the other side of it, though. Thad's value has to be higher than Bennett, who has shown to be nothing but an overweight stiff with a bad work ethic, and Shabazz who can barely make it out of the NBDL.

So, yeah, while I personally think very highly of Thad, he may not have high NBA value. But neither should Shabazz or Bennett. If you can't squeeze either out of the deal, then shame on you. This isn't like asking for Andrew Wiggins. What the hell have either of those players done in this league to warrant any kind of value?

Also, the Sixers are doing Minny a favor by absorbing salary in this deal.

One more bad year from Bennett and he's a throw-in for some trade no one cares about.

Bob Cooney now saying Thad for Bennett seems unlikely.

FWIW, I think Bennett should have a hard time getting in good conditioning with his asthma and genetically large built.

Bob Cooney is a **** joke. Woj is making the Daily News look like the Patriots made Curtis Marsh look last week. Just **** all over all their uninformed reports. First it was Woj saying the Sixers never made an offer for Wiggins when Bob Cooney said the Sixers are trying everything to get him. Now this.

One thing I just can't get over is the complete and total inability to use this massive amount of cap room for anything. If you wanted to load up on picks, load up on picks. They could be going into 2015 with 4 1st rounders if they got in on those Celtics or Rockets deals. Apparently the return of a 1st rounder wasn't good enough to simply eat money for half a year, but giving away your best and hardest working player is good enough. Whatever.

Just not happy with Hinkie right now.

Well, 20 minutes before the draft Woj said the Sixers were throwing the kitchen sink at Wiggins.

They're reporters, not clairvoyants. Trade proposals happen, they change, they fall apart.

Anyway, pretty pumped about this trade. Solid value for Thad. Sad to see him go though.

That wasn't Woj. The only thing he said shortly before the draft was the Sixers aren't talking to the Cavs about the #1 pick right now. A lot of reporters were all over that trade for the #1 pick, but Woj wasn't one of them.

I am still in favor of tanking, but I think Hinkie is just taking it way too far. He doesn't even need to tank this hard for this draft. The prize isn't nearly as good. 15 wins at most. Man, it's gonna be brutal.

Also, it's only broken for about an hour and I'm already tired of the Mbah a Moute being a mentor to Embiid angle. Like that is why he was a key piece to the deal. Not talent. Mentorship.

Yup, solid value for Thad. Not Jrue or Payton/Saric type robbery, more like ET/Hawes type trade. Anyway, I feel I'm spoiled with Hinkie's wizardry but this deal gets me on my feet.

Well, atleast we got a 1st rounder and guys who are likely going to be traded for a bunch of 2nds for a guy who is most likely going to walk away right?

Yeah, actually went through his tweets. You are right.

I don't think it's just tanking. You may not like this, but this is the highest Thad's value was probably going to be.

I think sixers did extremely well for a guy who is probably opting out next year. That Miami first round pick is going to be golden... I can see the Heat underwhelming and Wade missing 10-20 games at least.

Welp, good luck to Thad. He's one of the better people in the NBA. Class act.

Mixed feelings. I guess Thad wasn't in the plans, so at least we got 3 nice assets. Shved in case he develops, Moute for Embiid + the pick.

Yeah, but I find it hard to believe that Shabazz or Bennett have any value either.

Do you think Minnesota could trade Shabazz for a mid 1st round pick right now? I don't.

If this is the trade it is a good deal.
MIN gets a starting PF for next season and Hinkie continues doing whatever he is doing.
I admire the courage of PHI fans, maybe you are the only fans who could watch Hinkie manage the team like in a video game.

Maybe we didn't want Shabazz because he's awful? :dontknow:
