Seriously, WTF is wrong with Evan Turner?

He has to figure out quickly that this isn't Ohio State or the Big Ten. Turner seems like he is just waiting for the offense to be completely centered around him getting the ball. He doesn't cut off the ball, post-up, set picks, participate in pick and rolls or give and go's.

He jsut stands there waiting for the ball and for the entire team to play off of him, The kid sees passing angles better than Turner and has a great handle for a two, but if you start every play from getting the ball at a standstill outside of the 3 pt. line and your name isn't LeBron, you will not be successful.

He is told to stand there!!! The team plays offense 4 on 5 when he is in the game. It is crushing his confidence and his developement. The one thing we heard before doug got here was how he was tough on young players and ruins there confidence and I can see why.

Dude really? He's told yo Evan just stand there and do nothing, don't cut, don't move and if you get the ball pass it back?
Really? c'mon now. Think about it even if that is true if Turner actually listens to this then he's already lost.

He isn't Ben Wallace, he's obviously in the starting lineup over Lou, Meeks, Thad etc because he can contribute on both sides of the floor. It's up to him to actually produce on the court however.

Absolutely false. Are you kidding me? Told to stand there? Besides, the only person that ruins your confidence is yourself. Turner needs to get in the game and be more involved on the offense. He is plenty gifted to adapt to his new role, but if he's going to get used to it more quickly he needs to be a lot more active.

Great perimeter defense this game especially Iguodala who shut Roy down. I really think being on team USA has helped him. He makes more crisp passes, his jumpshot looks a little better, but his defense has become elite in my eyes. Just because a player scores on you or gets past you once or twice does not mean anything.

Actually, it was Elton Brand that really was the reason that they won. Elton is able to play one on one against ALdridge defensviely. Thus letting the wing players just play their man. Elton is the key to the defense on a nightly basis. He blocks shots and is the only physical presence in there. Battie is good also but he is a 15 minute guy. If they can single up on the inside then there isn't any open 3 point shots.

Put Turner on the bench. Let him play PG with Williams at SG on the second unit. Hopefully he can produce there, while learning how to play off the ball in practice so he can play with Iguodala and Holiday.

Hawes really needs to be sent to the end of the bench at this popint. He left the lane wide open and portland got a ton of easy playup. Battie, to me, needs to be starting for simply defensive purposes; however at this point, the two look about equal on offense.

Iguodala...can he ever have a complete game? He played good defense but his offense was attrocious to watch. Was at the game and all he did when he had the the entire game was dribble from the left side of 3-point line to between the foul and top of the point arch and then pass or shoot. Idk if that is his only move but it sucks and he should add some more arsenal to his attack bag.

On a positive note Brand keeps getting better and better. I would think that if he remains his steady play a contender like Oklahoma, Orlando, or San Antonio?

is it me or the team plays better when Thad and Lou are on the floor?

The team gets better with Lou on the court offensively (99.3 points per 48 minutes when he's on the court, 93.5 when he's off), but significantly wprse defensively (101.3 when he's on the court vs 96.4 when he's off). Overall, they're about 2 points per 48 minutes worse regardless of whether he's on the court.

Interestingly, the offense dies when Lou's at the point (85.5 pp48 when he plays the point, 97.9 when he doesn't). At SG the offense has been much better (105.2 pp48).

The team has been significantly better with Thad on the court. They're +3.9 points/48 with him on the court, -8.9 with him off. Offense has been better with him on (98.6 pp48-93.7), and defensive has been better (94.7 on, 102.6 off).

"It was a key game for us playing against a team like that," he said. "In the post, they were doubling me a lot and I had to pass out. If we lose the game, it might be a problem, but we didn't lose the game, so I have no problems."

I dont know if im reading that wrong but it seems like iguodala himself isnt happy when the gameplan is for others to shoot the ball and him to fascilitate. He is basically saying if they would have lost he would not have been happy with his teammates taking so many shots.

I read it as ....they (Blazers) didn't want me to beat them, so they doubled me down low and we won, so I'm happy.

I think everyone on the team recognizes how important he was to this win. I would hope he is not shallow enough to worry about how many points he is scoring. He has been our highest scorer the last ten games.

I have noticed Collins putting him in at PF and then looking for him to get out on the break, beat his defender down the court and scoring that way. I wonder how much of that difference can be attributed to what other forward/center are on the floor.

We are a much faster team playing Thad-Speights than Brand-Hawes, and if he is at SF you would think one or the other would be on the floor with Thad. Playing PF with Speights and Iguodala as the other C and SF could be partially responsible for that difference (higher pace)

Interesting stats for Thad. I've been impressed by his play so far this year, but I didn't think the stats would make as strong a case as they do. I like him in a bench role, as he creates beneficial matchups, and seems to be holding his own on defense/rebounding better than earlier in his career.
