No matter what else transpires, the realization that Hawes is a backup center is already a step in the right direction. I read somewhere that Hawes really worked hard on his body and conditioning this off-season, so perhaps that can help his speed and hops, but I will believe that when I see it. Barring some kind of miracle like that, he is a nice option as a backup, but weak as a starter. Not sure that Kwame excites me as a replacement, but at least he does some more of the things that Philly could use and has a very big body. I guess we'll have to pray that Vucevic was a steal, but he too seems an awful lot like Hawes on paper.

I've been convinced since last year that Iguodala will remain a Sixer until his contract runs out or at least the All Star break of his final year. The franchise asks for too much in return, it seems like they know they're asking for too much and if they don't get what they want, they keep holding onto this guy like he's gold. Very disappointing.

yeah hawes is basically here for one year if he is here...otherwise he isnt.

They dont want to rush Vucevic this year..especially with no full training camp.

Expectation is he plays a bigger role next year.

If he's already been playing overseas and with the talent (or lack there of) in our frontcourt, Vucevic better play a big role this season. There should be no excuse for him not to do something this season. He's not 18-19 years old and there's no one in front of him to stunt his progress. Get him out there to contribute.

on a side note, here we go again with superteams. Whether or not this can be pulled off its great for the league that Chris Paul is now asking specifically to be traded to the Knicks. I was hoping the new CBA would help to prevent this and it probably won't happen, but still...

You should be lucky to have 1 superstar on your team let alone 2. This consolidating of the superstars needed to be more strongly addressed in this CBA. I would have loved to see a franchise tag like the NFL.

anyways back to the topic, I like Iggy, but I just want a fresh start, just like I would want to see the Eagles and Andy Reid split apart just to get a fresh start there too. Sometimes a change is best for the team and somtimes its best for the fan base to reinvigorate them and get some enthusiasm again behind the team.

As everyone talks trade, I just get angrier and angrier at this joke of a league. Why wasn't that asinine 25% trade rule removed? I can't stand the NBA anymore. You can't sign anyone, you can't trade anyone. All these ridiculous rules that restrict movement.

I am not happy the NBA is back to say the least. It's a horrible league anymore.

That said, if I'm going to watch this team play at all this season it would be ideal if Iguodala isn't on the court. I don't know if I could stand another season of this dude trying to play hero in the last 5 minutes of games. Taking off balance 3 pointers with 15 seconds left on the shot clock, driving into a crowded lane while trying to use awkward crossovers and spin moves that he isn't coordinated enough to do. His jumper arcs so high in the air that one jumper from him alone eats 5 seconds off the shot clock.

sixerfan1976 wrote:they are exploring trades of iguodala for a center or a SG. If they get a center, they want to sign tayshaun prince for the midlevel. If they get a SG, they want Kwame Brown.

They want meeks to be the backup SG and turner to start....envisioning instant offense off the bench of Lou,meeks and Young(and probably Hawes). If they acquire a SG, they have no problem with Turner starting at SF.

Speights will be gone shortly after transactions are allowed. The return is not expected to be much. They are comfortable with Allen,Vucevic,Brackins as the backup big men other than Hawes. Nocioni will either be amnesty'd or bought out. He doesnt want to be here.

Their first target at SG is kevin martin, Monta is 2nd, but front office folks question whether he fits here.. Wesley Matthews is of interest to them but that one would probably take a three teamer to do. They also like Batum but Portland doesnt want to move him. They envision Martin as the perfect fit here but no idea if the Rockets are open to moving him.

I dont know any names at center, but I agree with others that Utah may be a fit.(just my opinion)

wow this is a GREAT post in terms of good news lol... this is almost identical to what i would do..

kwame is who i want at center for this team, he is an upgrade for this team in rebounding and post defense. he also has decent post moves inside.

if we traded iggy it would make perfect sense to sign prince... he is a great defensive player who does not need to shoot alot or handle the ball. he would fit perfectly with jrue and turner.

both of those SG's i like as well for this team... im excited... hope something happens sooner rather than later

Doesn't Collins hate Kwame?

Also according to Woj we are looking at Boki Nacbar aka the Dalembert Killer

Nachbar is a SF isnt he? Potential guy off bench at SF is my guess. They arent real deep at SF with Kapono and Nocioni gone.

Does anybody know where Iggy would prefer to be traded?
It's quite refreshing that he is still the consumate professional and hasn't been whining about all the rumors since last year.

I don't think anyone bashes Iguodala's professionalism, and most appreciate his value on the court. I don't think a deal has to be made, but what centers can they bring back for him? It is essentially a center-less league, so can you get a center who is of high enough talent to not be considered an MLE signing? Kaman+Aminu for Speights+Iggy?? I honestly want to see Jrue/ET/Iguodala, but can appreciate mixing things up to bring in a more pure shooter at the SG spot and upgrading the center.

Sixerfan, what is the gameplay, long term, of the new ownership? Do they see a title run in 5 years? Also, what can we make of is quiet in re to Young?

This team needs to look at 2 things:

- getting in to good cap area
- collecting talent

With that, Iguodala should go for an expiring, a young piece and a 2012 1strounder. Multiple picks in the top 20 next year would be a plus.

Also, this team needs points. We have good young players, but we need a go to scorer.

Free agency- take a chance on short years, low money on some younger guys that need a chance. Yi, Clark, etc.

The # of teams with cap space must mean Iguodala is popular in trade. He would fit in wellin Sac-town, Clev.

Hibbert appears to be available in Indy with the Pacers chasing all of these big men.

We need to jump on this and them them involved in a 3 way deal.

We send out Iguodala and parts (Speights) and get back Hibbert and other pieces.

Iguodala + Speights + pick for Hibbert + George + filler (potentially from 3rd team) works for me!

Another possibility.

Trade Iggy in a move that frees up some cap space and brings back a young 2 and a pick. Amnesty Brand.

Then, sign DeAndre Jordan. Add other pieces.

Hopefully this FO can get creative.

"Patiently" waiting for the next Sixerfan update.

It doesnt sound like Houston wants to trade Martin.

I think Iguodala stays.

Could be a less news worthy week than we thought.

Thad resign priority 1, signing Kwame priority 2, getting rid of Nocioni and Speights priority 3.
