I'm not sure about Pek. We need someone that can block some shots.

I agree that we do, but we could always look to add a shot blocker to play alongside/spell him.

My main hesitation on getting Pek is, it would likely make us better, and that could hinder us being able to possibly land a player with star upside in next years draft.

Aside from that, I like him. He's a strong bruising big who has a good post game and can rebound the ball.
If we are to create a tough indentty having a guy you can Pound downlow with, and be physical and wear down a player certainly gives you an advantage ( see what the grizzlies are doing right now)

I personally would rather just wait it out, because I think a top 5 pick in next years draft could be a ticket out of mediocrity. But I wouldn't hate the addition if it was made.

The Grizzlies and Pacers are bringing back the 90s handchecking NBA. But both those teams have centers that protect the rim. If we sign Pek and keep Thad, finding that defensive anchor will be tough. I'd rather see us spread the money around to "buy low, sell high" type guys. Pek seems to be at his peak value right now (of course the same value stuff couldve been said about Asik last summer too).

I agree.

Then again, I'm also in favor of making major changes with some of our guys. We have roughly 50% of our cap room allocated to Jrue-Thad-ET-Hawes. Whoever you don't feel could be part of a championship team down the road needs to be moved.

We will pretty damn likely have our choice of shotblockers at pick 11. Gobert might be there and Dieng will definitely be there.

I like that logic, but do you think Dieng has the foot speed to guard PF's in the NBA?

Oh nah. I meant for people that just want a shotblocker at the 5 instead of Pek. If Pek is our 5, I'm on the same page with you on Brandan Wright.

Man if you look at Wrights stats in depth, he really does have some impressive stuff. Giving this dude a 2-3 year deal and giving him minutes wouldn't be a bad idea IMO.

He could be a a solid player at the 4 for us.

Kobble we've gotta try to compile a list of potential high reward, low cost FA's/targets for us this offseason.

Yeah, I'd be down for that. Give me a day or so to go over the free agent list. And then we can make a thread.
