I just love that we were able to get players like McDaniels and Grant in the second round. They are exactly the types of guys that we should have taken. Hyper athleticism and defensive potential are two things that give second round picks a good shot at being very good role players.

If they turn out to be more than that then great, but if at least one of them turns into a 20-25 minute a game player that stays on our team once we get good then it is a clear win.

In my book, if a second round pick even makes the team it is a good pick. If they get into your rotation then it is a great pick. The Sixers are sort of like a glorified dleague team so getting in our rotation doesn't have the same meaning, but these guys have low risk( given that they are second round picks) and high reward.

Im not exactly sold on Grant yet, but I love the KJ McDaniels pick. I think he was a steal at #32 and I hope he starts next year at the 2 guard position

Grant does nothing for me. KJ could develop into a good SG.

If Hinkie is as impressed with KJ McDaniels, it will be interesting to see what kind of contract he comes up with. Ideally it would be nice to have McDaniels on a team friendly contract while still being able to control him. If he gets three years, the Sixers will own his Bird rights ( I think). Might see team options as part of it too. Hinkie will no doubt get creative if he likes McDaniels.

It will also be interesting to see if/what differences McDaniel's contract vs Jerami Grant's contract. Might tell what kind of value Hinkie places on these guys.

Yes! You are thinking ahead!
Don't want to lose KJ, Jerami, or Jordan like how Houston lost Chandler Parsons. Lock them in early for a few years

We're probably gonna make them walk cause we all about that damn flexibility.

My guess is, nothing before the Love deal and the Monroe/bledsoe signings.

Why everybody here is projecting KJ as our starting SG? To me he's definitely a small forward, I don't think he has the skills to play the 2-spot right now... Unless you see him as being able to develop in a Danny Green type of role player (better athlete, less shooter), who was a similar prospect when he was drafted.

I don't know if everybody is. He is being projected by some to start at SG more because we do not have a lot of options right now. It could be Jordan McRae, but he was a late pick in the 2nd round and had some promising SL games but other than that is less proven than KJ so KJ might get the nod to start. J-Rich is an obvious choice but he might still be injured or just totally out of shape, nobody knows the deal with him. Hollis Thompson seems to have the SF position locked down. The reason KJ to me is more of a 2 than a 3 is because he definitely has the length and quickness to be a very very good defender at the 2, whereas although he could guard opposing 3s, he doesn't have a big advantage and Hollis can't really guard 2s that well so it makes more sense to do it this way. On the offensive side of the ball, he is a huge unfinished product so the position doesn't matter much.

If I had to choose, I would say J-Rich is going to start opening day. If not then it is going to be up to KJ and Jordan to duke it out for the job throughout the season, with who knows starting the first game.

I don't know about right now, but I could see him potentially becoming a 25-30 mpg wing (on a good team) who doesn't do much ball handling, whether that be starting or coming off the bench, at SG or at SF. There are tons of examples of guys out there who fit that description, Danny Green being one of them.
