Solid all around game.

I remember after the first game a poster complained that Nerlens took 12 shots and that was way too many. I replied and said are you kidding me? So one of the 2 or 3.guys who have a shot of being here in 4 years you don't want taking shots and developing his raw offensive game? Makes no sense. Lets have guys who we know won't be here in 2 years jacking up 15+ shots? Come on.

Noel can shoot as much as he wants. I'm writing this because after his best offensive game on Monday and taking 12 shots he only gets off 7 shots last night? He had to be a bit more aggressive on offense and his teammates have to look for him more. Losing Shved hurts in this way. He'd actually look to pass the ball to Nerlens.

That was me, don't know why I was so upset about that at the time, lol.

Ha, props for owning up to it. Don't see that much on sports forums. Much respect.

Wiggins has no offensive game too, the dude is shooting like 39% with a 9 PER.

I agree that Mirotic should win. 23 years old and skilled, he has an advantage over raw players like Noel.

Believe so as well, however the issue with Mirotic is that he's not getting enough minutes, he played a ton yesterday because he was making his shots which he had actually been struggling with lately. Generally you have to get minutes to win ROY, for reference, the lowest amount of MPG to ever win the award was Mike Miller's 29.1 MPG.

The Nerlens we were all expecting seems to have arrived.

I was watching the Bucks/Clippers game last night and there was a discussion between the Milwaukee commentators about whether or not Wiggins is a lock to win ROY now that Parker is out. One thought yes and asked who the competition is. Noel was mentioned. As was "Jake Lavine" lol.

I like what I am seeing in Noel this last couple of games. Not just the stats that show up on the sheets, but the way he also forces opposing players to change their shoots. I also like the way he not only blocks shots but keeps the ball in play, that in and off it's self is a valuable skill to have. It's just a matter of time before MCW and the rest of the team figures out how to get him several alley oops within the course of a game.

As of now would anyone trade Nerlens for

Anthony Bennett
Victor Oladipo
Otto Porter
Cody Zeller
Alex Len

straight up?

Yes he is on his way. With each game he's been playing, I see his confident level getting higher and that is getting me excited. He is improving both sides of his game little by little and it's been great.

The great thing about this he's just scratching the surface. He's such a raw, unique talent that he is going to considerably improve from year 1 to year 2 and year 2 to year 3 and so on. It's a long way until he's a finished product.

This is one of the things we have to take away as fans as we watch this team lose so many games.

I'd consider Oladipo

Why?

Oladipo is a young talented player who still has upside? I'm not saying I'd do it but hypothetically we could draft Karl Towns or Okafor if we traded Noel for Oladipo and still be loaded on our front line.

Couple things I really liked in the game tonight- lobs!! He should be getting 3-4 a game. He's more athletic than 90% of the big men guarding him...use it. Also I liked that one play when he took to dribbles and tried to dunk it. The floater can be a nice weapon for him, but you gotta attack the rim young fella. Also like him battling on the boards and winning his share. And the free throws. He's coming along, for sure.

This might have to be the first line of Nerlens rookie of the year candidate file.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Noel had a bad offensive game. While his shots and lay ups didn't go in, what I like most was his hustle on the defensive end and rebounding. Most of the rookies would probably give up and call it a bad night but not these Sixer rookies. They find other ways to contribute and we can't ask for anything else. The future looks good so far.

Excellent observation and you are 100% correct he does a lot more than just score points and block shots. His hands are so active on defense and opposing players are really thinking twice about taking a shot or altering their shots all together when he is playing them.
And the guy is still getting better.

Nerlens Noel will be 2014-2015 rookie of the year

Post#299 » by Ericb5 » Fri Jan 2, 2015 4:11 am

Brett Brown said today that he sees Noel as a 5 right now, and I agree. I think that long term he will need to play mostly at the 4 to excel with Embiid, but he needs to learn so much that I would rather him get comfortable at the 5 for now.

This whole season is basically about getting him caught up after the year off, and acclimating him to the NBA game. He has been up and down so far this year as expected, but I think that the game will be easier for him at the 5. It can only help his confidence and general skill level.

Next year we will then try him again at the 4, and he will continue to work on it in the offseason and the summer league.

Very happy with Noel defensively. Dude stuffs the stat sheets with blocks/steals and as other posters have mentioned, you can see in-game that players have to alter their shots due to Noel. I definitely expected him to score more on such a putrid offensive team, but I ain't even mad as his bread and butter will be his defense anyway.
