Look who took a gigantor leap into first place in VA* and EWA** in the rookie rankings?

1 Nerlens Noel,140.2,4.7
2 Nikola Mirotic,135.8,4.5
3 Andrew Wiggins,115.9,3.9

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinge ... /sort/VORP

*VA: Value Added - the estimated number of points a player adds to a team’s season total above what a 'replacement player' (for instance, the 12th man on the roster) would produce. Value Added = ([Minutes * (PER - PRL)] / 67). PRL (Position Replacement Level) = 11.5 for power forwards, 11.0 for point guards, 10.6 for centers, 10.5 for shooting guards and small forwards

**EWA: Estimated Wins Added - Value Added divided by 30, giving the estimated number of wins a player adds to a team’s season total above what a 'replacement player' would produce.

Guys, I don't want to sound like Homer the Homerian, but if Noel gets cheated out of this award without a fight from his fans, that should be considered a separate crime on the part of the fans. Games late in the season matter, too, right?

Not saying Ish is a starting level PG, but his particular strengths are fairly elite for his position in terms of being a penetrator and creator. There are only a few PG's who routinely create dunk opportunities through ally oops- CP3 is the best, and Andre Miller in is prime was great. Ish is nearly as good at creating dunk opportunities through his penetration and seems really committed to feeding his bigs. He has made a great case for being in the PG rotation next year, if only for the benefit of developing the bigs. Noel is very accurate in crediting Ish for some of his emergence.

At this point, I just want to make clear that Noel is the best rookie out there.

And if the other fans wants their guy to be the ROY, I just don't have any problem with that. I can understand how it feels when you thought you have something already in bag but suddenly, it gets stolen (even rightfully) from you.

I see what you mean by his ability to be an elite penetrator. Personally, I wouldn't mind Ish being the team's long term starting PG IF he can play defense against the best PGs in the league. From what I've watched, he and Canaan are quite a liability on the defensive end.

Watching Noel's highlights from tonight... Ish was lookign for him a ton, that was awesome. It really keeps Noel engaged and looking for the ball.

lol, although i'm kinda wondering if Ish just has a really bad shot. Maybe he's actually shooting all of those and Noel is just tossing them down :D :D

Noel 15.01 PER, he did it with 9 games remaining, lol.

Also, 9.9 points per game, he's totally going to get into double digits.

His PER 12/17 was 10.3.

Now on 3/28 it is 15.01.

Amazing improvement and progression.

it was like 14.68 yesterday, that's an amazing jump. He's got something nice going here, hopefully he can keep it up for the remainder of the season.

In his last 20 games (post all-star break), Noel is averaging 13.9 PTS, 2.7 BLK, 2.4 STL, 1.7 AST, 10.3 REB, .688 FT%, .510 FG%, 33 MIN.

I don't care a whit about ROY; I care that the above stats are likely indicative of how good Noel has become.

I love this kid though, he's amazing!

Dude go balls out and say we drafted Anthony Davis and then the following year draft Hakeem. I'm willing to go over that cliff with you Thelma and Louise style.

It's not the fall that would kill me, but the reality of actually landing and what we'd be landing on.

The highlight of the night last night was Blake Griffin backing off rather than attacking the rim. Due to where Noel was at. It was surprising considering how close he was to the basket when it happened.

I wish I had taken note of who it was that airballed a layup because Noel was near. That was my favorite play of the year. Wish I had taken note of it since I know my memory is unreliable for things like that. Since I have all the games recorded.

I love ish man, he gets in the lane at will and just wrecks havoc, he's not even a ballhog...I think he'd flourish with noel-joel in there...he actually looks to get the bigs involved.

Another epic game from Nerlens last night even though the rest of the team played like utter crap. He has definitely solidified himself in the top two in ROY voting even though I still think Wiggins will win it. When was the last time a team had back-to-back ROYs?

Side note: it's kind of odd that Noel has a better rapport with Ish than he did with his buddy MCW. Because Ish plays more unselfish perhaps?

Best part of the game with the Clips is that Iso against DeAndre where he made a semi dream shake (thats what they call it) then fade away jumper.

Damn, Noel's improvement is really amazing.

Getting his ft close to seventy percent is really positive for the future. You look at other offensively limited defensive oriented centers like Deandre Jordan and Drummond and both are laughibly awful from the stripe.
