Best team in Atlantic division?

Post#1 » by Phila Tough » Fri Aug 29, 2014 6:23 pm

Just trying to keep the board flowing with new topics until the season gets here. How do you predict the Atlantic to end up? Toronto, NY, and Brooklyn are all interchangeable for me so I think it will end up like this

Knicks
Nets
Raptors
Celtics
76ers

Raptors followed by three layers of low level mediocrity, then the Sixres rounding out the bottom.

What does the Knicks roster even look like now? I feel like they're worse off than last season. Definitely like the Raptors and Nets ahead of them.

They have one of the better rosters in the east ino. I just don't know what the heck happened last year.

I do not get the love for the Knicks. At best, with a lot of breaks going their way, they get to .500 and sneak in the playoffs as an 8 seed. At worst, they challenge the Sixers and Celtics for worst record in the league. This is their roster:

Dalembert/Bargnani/Aldrich
Stoudemire/J.Smith
Melo/Shumpert/Outlaw
THJ/JR Smith/Early
Calderon/Prigioni/Larkin

That team will give up 120 a night on D even with Dummybert back there blocking shots. Offense will be okay until Dalembert decides he is Michael Jordan in which case God help him if JR Smith is on the court. Speaking of JR, total melt down could come at any time. And I can't see any way that at least 2 of their players don't spend significant time down with injury. So I'm thinking they have a hard time duplicating last year's record, nonetheless bettering it.

Predictions:

Toronto 50-32 (4)
Brooklyn 43-39 (8)
New York 30-52
Boston 22-60
Philadelphia 20-62

The Knicks are a mess. I can't see that squad winning more than 35 games and even that might be generous.
