I have to admit, I'm shocked/amazed (pleasantly) the Sixers got a 2nd rounder just to help clear such a small salary/roster space.

Now Casper Ware will be added to the list of players we traded away for peanuts.

We cleared a million dollar salary...with luxury tax implications. A million dollars for a second round pick.

Maybe im looking at this wrong but;

Teague 1,120,920
Ware 816,482

Difference 304,438

We paid 300k for the 2nd rounder and a sighter on a former 1st rounder. I don't see the downside for this deal.

Well marquis is only like 21 right? Guess he fits the plan. Hoard untapped potential and see what we can do with em!

Ware's contract is not guaranteed. They traded $0 guaranteed salary for $1.1 million in guaranteed salary.

Typical Hinkie move. Something, however small, for virtually nothing.

But don't they have to pay someone with that roster spot? Whether it be Ware, Teague or some other random, we have to pay someone.

Who cares, we're so far below the floor that the money was getting spent regardless. It's something for nothing. Don't care if we keep Teague or not, general consensus is that he's a scrub.

Brooklyn should value their picks more than they do. Billy King is a chump; as we know quite well.

He's played very limited minutes in 2 years, but he's still only 21 yrs old and was a first round pick for a reason. He comes from a basketball family and was the starting point guard as a freshman for a National championship college team. If he doesn't pan out, it's no big loss. But there is definitely something to work with, even if he hasn't put it together yet. No harm whatsoever if keeping him and trying to see if they can make something out of him.

Did we get a better return for Casper Ware than for Turner and Allen. I don't remember how the contracts worked, but it seems like we took on less salary and will get a better pick.

Keep in mind, taking on the added salary in the ET/Danny Granger trade was likely part of the intent of the trade. It actually saved the Sixers quite a bit of money.

The NETS are the ones saving a million dollars because they were probably going to cut Teague.

We're so far under the floor it probably won't matter all that much to us.

Cool, I don't mind this.

He was a very good defensive point guard at UK that played within the offense. Probably needed another year at UK, but he was important for that championship team.

How he translates/has translated to the pros? I haven't really followed him. I assume his lack of a jumpshot has held him back. He did have size and strength over other PGs in college which helped him. He didn't do anything all that spectacularly, but he didn't need to. He got the ball to MKG, Lamb, Miller, Jones, and, of course, Davis.

Love being on the other end of a billy king trade
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Apparently Brown has a connection to Teague as well:

BRETT BROWN may not be as familiar as he's going to get with Marquis Teague's game, but he certainly is familiar with the makeup of the young man.

Brown and Shawn Teague, Marquis' dad, were roommates at Boston University, where the two played for coach Rick Pitino. Shawn transferred to BU from Missouri to play for Pitino and also to play with his brother, John.
