This pick is going to be a lot more interesting to follow than I thought.

At this point it is looking like they could win a similar number of games that the Pelicans won last year. It is just the fact that the Heat pick is top 10 protected instead of top 5 protected like the Pelicans pick was that makes me nervous.

I think I'm in the minority in hoping the pick rolls over. The heat aren't getting better unless Riley pulls a 2010 over again in 2016. Around 2017 the sixers will be looking to add a star in free agency and having a top pick to dangle to add a second superstar would be extremely valuable kind of how Wiggins and Bennett essentially got the Cavs Lebron because they were able to trade for Love.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

If they don't get it either of those years then Bosh and Wade will be two years worse and it could turn into a possible home run. Any of these results is a win for 1 year of Thad Young.
You're a glass half full guy and I agree about the Thad trade. Besides, Hinkie could probably sign Thad, if he wanted to (or not). Will Thad ultimately turn into three international players: Shved, TGFA and Heat pick eurostash...?
I fear the Heat are lottery bound this year due to injuries (and payback for their deal with the devil).
I have a really hard time finding 8 teams that might win more games than them. Especially after the Parker injury.

In the West this would make me nervous, in the East, not so much. Plus if it rolls over to the next year I'm fine with that. It doesn't look like the Heat are any kind of team with bright future upside at all unless they finish at 9-10 spot and get super lucky in the lottery.

Yeah it's not like that team picks up Nik Stauskas and all of a sudden they are winning 60 games again. It's a flawed team with a bunch of guys on the wrong side of their careers.

Cleveland, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Atlanta, and potentially New Jersey are the only teams I could see finishing ahead of Miami. If Indiana happens to make a play for Stephenson and starts re-surging I suppose they could edge out the Heat as well. At worst, I think Miami finishes with the 8 seed.

Re: Official 2014-15 Lotto/Heat Pick Watch Thread
I just viewed the "Tankathon" website. I just realized the Lakers are paying Jeremy Lin 15 million dollars, in order to get the 28th pick in the draft. On the other hand, the Celtics only paid 4 million (Joel Anthony) for the 32nd pick.
... Then you have the 76ers, who got someone else to pay 9 million (Thad Young) in order to receive the 16th pick.

top 10 for 2015 and 2016. Unprotected in 2017

It's 1-10 protected, but it's pretty much of a moot point since the chances of the Heat winding up in the 11-14 range are very low. If they make the playoffs, their pick will be 15 or later. If they don't make the playoffs, they will almost surely have one of the 10 worst records.

Not necessarily. If they don't make the playoffs then they will likely have one of the 12 worst records, but they could end up there. Getting the 13th or 14th pick would be pretty hard to imagine, but getting 11 or 12 could happen.

You are correct. It could happen. That's why I didn't say that it couldn't happen. I'm saying that the chances of it happening are low.

Miami blew out Boston Sunday. Need some of those once in awhile actually. They had lost 5 straight.

The Heat lost again, in case anyone didn't already know. That pick is looking better and better.

The 76ers really pants'd the Timberwolves in that trade. I still can't believe there were guys that thought that was a bad deal for the 76ers.

Heat were supposed to be a solid playoff team, they should still be able to make it. But yeah, it was always a good deal really, all we gave up was 1 year of Thad Young lol.
Trust the Process

Well the Heat beat the Cavs who couldn't buy a bucket in the 4th quarter.
