Kirilenko & 2020 2nd & 2018 2nd swap for Davies

Post#1 » by ckchen » Fri Nov 21, 2014 9:07 pm

the Sixers completed a trade with the Nets that sent Brandon Davies to Brooklyn in exchange for Andrei Kirilenko, Jorge Gutierrez, Brooklyn’s 2020 second-round pick, the option to swap Cleveland’s 2018 second-round pick with Brooklyn’s, and cash considerations.

Added the new details, and the poll.

I say why not? Karasev can't be any worse than what we already have, can he?

Kirilenko/Karasev rumor

Still doing salary dumps, huh? I don't have a problem with it since the last few guys on the roster are basically destined to be scrap heap type players. After they assigned Sampson to Delaware today, they might as well just waive him completely and then just sign him in Delaware, so that they can open up the roster spot to see what Karasev has to offer. Kid is still only 21.

This would be an awesome low risk move. If we basically give up nothing but salary and one of those conditional 2nd rounders that never get sent, and then waive Kirilenko, we would basically be stealing a look at Karasev.

Why not?

I don't know if Karasev can play, but he was a first round pick last year that didn't get any real playing time, and is supposedly a great shooter, and is still on his rookie deal.

Throw him some minutes and and see how he does.

Well the original tweet is the only mention of this that I could find. I am guessing that we would basically be getting Kasarev instead of one of our usual future second rounders. He is cheap enough, and talented enough(assuming so by his draft position last year) so he is theoretically worth eating Kirilenko's contract for the Nets.

So Hinkie is trying to get team Putin. It all makes sense now. Do we have the assets to trade for Mozgov?

19th pick in last year's draft, sure why not.

Karasev played a few minutes with the Nets this year ... i thought he played extremely well and deserved some minutes like Bogan

Only problem is that you bring in a young guy with potential like Karasev...but then he gets 25 mpg in a game like tonight - with a bunch of OTHER young guys who are trying to figure it out...and you get what we got tonight, which was the blind leading the blind.

I don't know how he is as a teammate, but I imagine that keeping Kirilenko around would be good for someone like Nerlens.

If we are going to trade for NBA players like AK keep him around. Enough of this acquiring talent and cutting it crap.

I know some people who live in the same building with the Kirilenko's in NY. The word on the street is that if Kirilenko is traded or released it would be so that AK could return to Russia. So I would assume that if this trade does go down, it's just for Karasev and AK would be released so he can return to Russia.

If they do a 2-for-0 deal, they'd have cut 2 guys even if they planned on letting Kirilenko go, correct? I don't know if it's worth it unless they're that high on Karasev or want to keep Kirilenko over, say, Drew Gordon at this point. I'd do the deal and hope he'd be a good veteran mentor, but the Sixers have a habit of dropping all vets and picking up prospects/assets.

Does Billy the King have any draft picks to give away this point?
