T-Wolves @ Sixers 7 pm ET Game Thread

Post#1 » by Embiid P » Fri Jan 30, 2015 6:43 pm

A lot of story lines heading into this one. The battle of the tanks, Thad's return to Philly, and their rookies vs. ours. I think that we win again unless Brown decides to sit some starters.

Will be in attendance tonight. I'm sure Thad will get a very warm reception. I know I'll give him one. Hoping for a close game that ends in a loss.. we need this L :tank:

Really really want this loss

Watching Wiggins is going to be depressing.

Since it looks like Wiggins is going to end up being a super star, who on our squad is going to guard him in the future? McDefense may not have the length. Grant could be the ticket. We have two swiss army knives.

Does anyone think that Stanley Johnson can do a good job of guarding Wiggins?
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I'm going too. I have been rooting for wins this year, but you are right that this is a pretty meaningful game for the tank. I will be conflicted.

This will be my first Sixers game since the Iverson years.

Wiggins had that stretch, with a few **** performances sprinkled throughout it; however, recently, the past 6 games, he's performed as poorly as he had been to start the season. He will likely be a star, however I'm still doubtful he'll be a superstar or a leader for that matter.

His rookie year has been quite glamorized, he's shown some stuff, however not enough that I'm upset about it.

You have to remember how raw he is. I think he has shown enough this year to have a potential superstar ceiling.

Every time a have watched a wolves game Wiggins has looked good or at least had moments where you say damn, only a few guys in the league who can do that. As predicted by most, the more open NBA has really suited. The shot continues to refine and there is a bit of a post / ISO game being shown also. While its easy to mock Flip, he did a good job getting him and seems to be developing him nicely.

He's having a good RotY runner-up caliber season. Much like Oladipo's from last year. Fortunately for him, there is nobody in this class performing like MCW did last year. So Wiggins will probably win it, anyway.

Realize he's raw and I agree that he's shown enough to perhaps affirm that ceiling, however he hasn't shown enough for me to think he's anymore likely to reach it. His 3 point shooting has been regressing and with it his shooting numbers in general have been pretty bad, dribbling has been what it had been, really his only saving grace is that he is as capable as advertised at finishing at/above the rim and his post game is better than expected, but that's really it. Also, I can't find anything to insist that his defense has been even alright either, opponents shoot considerably better against him than average per sportsvu player tracking and all of his advanced defensive stats are bleh to bad (DRPM, DBPM, DWS, etc).

Agree. If he were a sixer right now we would all have that label for him.

Agreed...but I would still rather have Embiid. :)
